Hacking How do i update SysNand..

Hi guys..

I have an O3DS on 10.1 and wish to upgrade to 10.3 using SysUpdater, I can access HBL and SysUpdater.. Am i right in thinking with the right 10.3 files, I can do this? Or do i need to use SysUpdater within some kind of CFW? Thanks!

why would you want to do that? anyways to do that you would have to downgrade and then upgrade again.

You should be able to downgrade from 10.1 you dont have to be on 10.3. If you update to 10.5 you can downgrade via hardmod only.

Even being on 10.1/3 hard mod is still advised in case on brick.

hi, i'd like to upgrade too and have an insanely hard time finding information. a lot of people here strongly recommend upgrading to 10.3.0-28 before downgrading, but noone seems to explain how to go about that. While with a lot of time one can find an archive with the fitting 10.3 cia's, i have yet to find a list of correct md5 sums to check it. safesysupdater only checks if the 9.2 files are correct.
at the moment there are a hundred tutorials on how to downgrade and seemingly none about upgrading. still you get called an idiot on every corner if you want to downgrade to 9.2 without upgrading to 10.3 first.
i'm on 9.6E n3ds xl btw.

Exactly the same. My 10.3 cias fail the MD5 check (i understand it would do, as its actually an upgrade) and I just get red line if i use SysUpdater (not Safe SU)

The only reason I wanted to go to 10.3 was precisely as the tutorial mentioned it in RED CAPS. I figured it may be worth while. I may just try 10.1 > 9.2 and take the risk... Shall report back!

Apart from this new fangled 10.4 and 10.5 to franken firmware 10.2 downgrade, you really don't need a hardmod anymore with SafeSysUpdater.

It would be like wearing a helmet while walking down stairs.

really? the way i understood it, when the downgrade fails and i'm forced to reset i'm stuck with 10.5 for the time being.
also, if it helps me not losing 200€ spent on my favorite little gadget i'll walk down those stairs wearing a hard hat and body armour for walking down those stairs this single time :-D

i downgrade from 9.8 to 9.2 , and it was N3DS
so i can't see the problem in O3DS.

I appreciate that people want to give advice, but nobody has actually answered the OP's question. There is sound rationale for updating to 10.3 before downgrading to 9.2.

Since you are on 10.1 you can use sysupdater to manually install the 10.3 CIA update pack. That will update your 3DS to 10.3. You can then use SafeSysUpdater to downgrade using the 9.2 CIA pack.

Yes but the question remains, is there a list of correct 10.3.0 checksums, or do i have to rely on the posters word / luck that its really the pack i need. taking that into consideration, if anyone's around who knows, is it really less risky to go that way and not directly to 9.2 where at least we can know for sure, the firmware pack is correct.

If none of the 10.3 cias have been retired (happens commonly to the browser, etc) you could download them yourself with 3DNUS...

i downloaded them as a zip file and it downloaded in one go, but you're right, i'll try the 3dnus route and hope nintendo didn't add any funny stuff to the older update packages.

The zip I have of 10.3 for O3DS has a
SHA1 of DFABCCC795AE01402EC74D017739FBD26B30BE08
The files inside are from 2016-1-10

I have managed to get to 10.3 using SysUpdater, I opened FTP before quickly and it seemed to help.. On to the next!.. Shall report back.

EDIT:.. My HBL from MenuHax/OOTHAX has gone.. I guess i need to re-OOTHAX for 10.3...

EDIT: Got OOTHAX working on 10.3 (correct payload) now trying SafeSysUpdater..

Final EDIT: All files check out green, but i get red dot line when i press Y.... Checked my files with SafeSysUpdater, all green, gone ahead with SysUpdater.. Downgrade successful!

im want to try the same thing bcause 9.9 have lots chance of soft brick(try it u sellf if dont belive).
i was warring that nint*ndo will add some funny stuff in it.
ill be waiting online.

I'm sorry i don't have the files downloaded with 3dsnus anymore. but i remember it saying it downloaded everything correctly and then went with it. make sure region and 3ds version selected is correct, it should work.
