thanks for your help. no spaces, nothing. I even deleted tubehax DNS in my router.

thanks xenon! did it via iphones internet connection now and it worked. thanks for checking it out, so it was clearly a DNS error (tubehax somehow not really cleaned out or URL filter in my router).

now I am going to backup my whole SD card (1:1 clone) and then install the .cia to see if it worked.

i download the friend list cia for my us n3ds running rx 9.2. then i when to fbi try to install it to nand. it told me to overwrite item . i click yes but installation fail. what can i do now

I guess you can backup the main partition of the broken one (Decrypt9/emunand/dump partition/ctrnand),
create a new emunand on a different SD card and update that one to 10.5 the normal way,
also extract ctrnand of that one,
mount the images and manually copy the correct "friends" driver over...!

Of course it's much easier to just start over...

Wouldn't it be easier to run 10.5 EmuNAND rather than this workaround. I understand that this workaround may be necessary once Nintendo figures out how to either block or detect EmuNAND on a later firmware but for now, I see no reason to not be on 10.5 EmuNAND.

If I do this on a 10.3 sysNAND 3ds with no CFW/emuNAND and using the updated version of FBI, will it still work? If it does, will I have a chance of bricking? I tried downgrading my 3ds multiple times and I always got a softbrick, and I don't want to be stuck on 10.5 if I screw up.

Don't risk it. Just set up Emunand. There are some great tutorial on this site. I brick my Emunand b but that's not a big deal compare to sysnand. Don't risk it man

I agree. Doing a factory reset first will solve the "downgrade OK but only boots error text" problem!
