@Aurora Wright, I like your changes, so I'm somewhat wondering what's up here. I think it makes sense to make a new thread for your modifications though, and you should also have a Github account so you can make a proper fork of ReiNAND (and more importantly, other devs can more easily track your changes to the code).

I don't know if this is something that's within any CFW developer's powers to fix, but is there any chance that the emunand 3d bug ever getting fixed? I know it has a simple fix, just close the lid of the 3ds and reopen, but just wondering if this will every truly can be or could be fixed?
As far as I know that's a problem of the exploit and nothing that @Reisyukaku could fix. Unless he finds a way to manually reset SS3D.

Now, a problem of my own... starting with v3.1, the 'Rei' version string is gone on my N3DS (Sys 9.0 / Emu 10.3) - is that a known problem? Is there anything that can be done about it? I don't want to update to 10.4 without that reassuring little change. And yes, I have updated the firmware.bin, too. Running it via my own BrahmaLoader and XML files.

Yeah that's a known issue. It was broken with the update to 10.2 FIRM since the arm9 payload that patches it isn't compatible anymore. Fix is in the works.

So, I can still update without having to fear for my SysNAND? (it's not like 'rei' is the only indicator of SysNAND)

Try using ctrbootmanager. Also make sure you have the right firmware.bin
Thank you :) I am sorry but I just download the zip file from the first post and unzip it onto my sd card right? Then I download the firmware.bin file that is provided on the github and put that in the rei folder?

As long as you are 100% certain you are in emunand and not sysnand, feel free to update.

OH!

Unless Rei updated the initial post then no, do not use that zip file. Your best bet is to get the build directly from the "releases" page on the github.

Yeah, the Rei string is purely cosmetic. If your NANDs are unlinked, just set a custom theme on emuNAND or something, so that you know for a fact you're in it before updating.

God I feel like a moron, how do i get to the release page on github? The only file I see to download where I can download a zip called ReiNand-Master.zip and when I unrar it I have no idea where to put all the files :(

Its actually the opposite of sexist, but ok. Would you rather I assume you were only important because you might have tits and a pussy and thus treat you differently just for that? Because, you know, that IS the very definition of "sexism".
What I meant was that assuming people on a Nintendo forum are all guys unless they say otherwise is sexist, because it implies that (Nintendo) players are mostly men. Of course I don't think that women deserve special treatments, I've never said that.
And its not being arrogant to point out that the level of changes you have made to your builds warrant them being given their own thread for discussion and support. What you are providing, while based on the original Reinand code, is not really Reinand anymore. At this point it is drastically different in scope and features than what Reisyukaku's builds offer. If anything you should take it as a sort of praise. "My changes are significant enough to justify their own support thread". Ma'am you effectively created your own CFW.
The way you expressed it was. To quote "One he has actually been asked more than once to make his own thread for rather than hijacking Rei's (and causing confusion for those who don't understand that he is effectively making his own version of reinand, like yourself)". That's very snarky and accusatory, if that was not your intention, then sorry. But I'm sure anyone would agree with me that that's what it conveyed.
Thank you for your compliments. I guess I'll open a new thread.

Mchief answered you already, but here's a photo for reference:

Github's latest "mobile" layout is pretty unintuitive.

Not you Mchief :) Thanks Daxstu! So I got the ReiNandv3.1 zip. I just unzip that on my sd card and then add a firmware.bin file in that rei folder correct?

Yeah I can see why it would come off as snarky, sorry about that.

As for the other, it has nothing to do with the fact this is a game forum. I when I said "anyone I encounter online" I literally mean anyone. Far too often do men use female avatars and feminine sounding usernames to match said avatars, so as a general rule I assume the other person I am talking to is a dude. Well, more that I don't bother worrying about gender, and since I am a guy myself, that means I tend to default to masculine pronouns.

Yeah, but make sure you're using the firmware.bin from the pastebin link on the README.md (go to the top page). If you're still having trouble booting it after that, you might need a build that's slightly newer than even 3.1 (check back on page 133 for a build I posted up). It had a tiny bug fix.
