eShop now works, but when I try to click on a game to view, I get error code 007-2404 (An error has occurred.). The error doesn't happen when I use HANS to run eShop. Is this normal?
It does not happen when you run HANS, but it happens when, what, you run it straight from your home menu? Which CFW / Emunand are you on?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

FBI or rxtools? I followed this guide - https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutoria...and-coldboot-cia-manager.405589/#post-5859850

End result was 9.2 sys and emunand with rxtools, and FBI installed on the emunand homemenu. I updated emunand to 9.5. I'm guessing everything is on the SDcard. Cheers
The NVER you install must go to NAND. When you open FBI, hit L to change Destination, make sure it says NAND, then try installing it again! :)

Ahhh! To be a noob. Ah well, slowly learning all the tricks of the trade. Thanks mate.

I'm using ReiNAND / EmuNAND 9.5U.
It happens when I run it from Home Menu.
In that case it's normal. It only works from the home menu if you're in Gateway Mode, so it's normal that you have to use HANS with CFW. Sleep mode download doesn't work on either, just a heads up.

Success! Thanks again shadowfied. I've now moved onto the 022-2634 error, no more update firmware request error caused by old nver, but I know how to fix this.

So after combating the dreaded 022-2634 error the whole day yesterday it's actually pretty easy to fix for a new 3DS. The error is displayed when you try to access online-services with a NNID that has been logged out on Nintendo's servers due to formatting your sysNAND yet it still active on emuNAND since it was cloned before logging out. It's not necessary to call Nintendo to resolve this in 99% of the cases.

1: Make sure your sysNAND and emuNAND are unlinked (You wouldn't have the issue in the first place if they weren't I think :P)

2: Make sure your emuNAND is updated to 9.5 and has an updated nVer (DO NOT UPDATE YOUR cVer OR TIGER!)

3: Make a backup of your whole SD card and your emuNAND partition via Emunand Tool or EmuNAND9 and store both backups on your computer

4: Make sure you are in emuNAND and format it via the default 3DS system settings

5: Your emuNAND will eventually reboot if you have set it to auto-boot, go though the initial setup like setting up the time and date etc. then access the NNID settings and choose to login into a existing NNID.

6: After you logged in and are back in the HOME Menu, shut down your 3DS and restore the backup of your SD card and inject your emuNAND backup too.

7: Your emuNAND should be in the stage it was before the format and you can now access the eShop via HANS just fine and can also use Free Multi Patcher to play games online that require NNID access :)

*snip*

Yay! Indeed, following those steps is the final part. Just a heads up, you don't need to backup your ENTIRE SD Card, unless you really want to. The Nintendo 3DS folder is enough (in fact even the emunand folder inside Nintendo 3DS is enough).
Let me know if you need help.

When following the guide above after the format and HBL auto-booting into rxtools, I get the 3DS first install setup menu. As expected, as emunand has been formatted. Once I've set things up (setup date and internet) and clicked the home button to get the home menu, I get stuck on a black screen :/ Sysnand is fine. I restored my emunand backup, which got me back into emunand and tried formatting again, stuck on a black screen again.

I'm using menuhax on sysnand, rxtools and CtrBootManager. As I said above Sysnand is fine though, but something else must be wrong/out of date that prevents a clean formatted emunand from booting.

Any ideas?

That's really weird.. It feels especially weird to me that it freezes when returning to the home menu.. What happens when you boot into emunand after hard forcing it off on black screen?

Generally, for me, on both systems, random freezes every now and then is expected. I'd try it a few more times just to make sure, not that I think it'll be different, but just to make sure.

Still black screens. The only way to revert emunand from that state is restoring my emunand.bin backup. Something about formatting emunand is bugging things out for me. Thought it might be my version of rxtools or something, but I followed a guide on here to a tee and many others have done what I can't seem to right now. Emunand definitely has no menuhax left overs, I'm even running a custom theme on it.

I could clone sysnand to emunand and start all over but I really want to try and avoid that. Will continue checking for help/fixes for now.

Worked for me. emuNand hbl autoboot to Rx. Had to use Dev Menu (6.2) though, FBI caused a brick.
and used FMP

scratch that. Worked fine until the update download was complete, then I get an error.
And the eShop boots, but clicking anything throws an error.

Definitely. I really wish I could help more man. That's the best thing about 3ds modding though, that once emunand is set up, at least we're always safe. Let me know if I can possibly help you in any other way.

When you format emunand is it right that it deletes the folder inside Nintendo 3DS completely? I have noticed that. Only sysnand folder is on my sdcard after formatting. I assume when you do the initial setup it should create a new emunand folder inside Nintendo 3DS? This doesn't seem to be happening for me, although I guess black screening could be causing me not to get far enough for a new folder to be made.

I examined the SD card after turning the 3DS off when it black screened.

I'm not sure. I cant remember exactly, and I don't know whether it creates the new folder in the actual initial setup, I think it does when you enter the home menu after, and it says "opening home menu" but I could definitely be wrong.

And it still does not add the new folder? That feels wrong. Just to make sure (idiot mistakes do happen ^^), if you're on an o3ds, check that you didn't accidentally hit the lock switch on your SD card.

Edit: ah right, you're on New.

Nope :(

Could I have something setup wrong in sysnand causing a conflict? I went into sysnand and checked NNID settings. It's definitely unlinked as it's asking me to setup one for the first time. I guess I might need to clone my sysnand to emunand and start all over. That would remove my emunand NNID saved login I guess.

I would try again just to verify how the folders get added, but I don't wanna have to redo any NNID linking (PS: Fuck you Nintendo for making it so troublesome, it's an even bigger issue when NOT dealing with modifications), sorry.

You shouldn't have to re-do the entire process, not at all. I managed to do all this and have my very original things, records etc from 2011, also on a N3DSXL, by the way. I would advice you to try having the SD card as clean as possible, move everything that you do not need for the moment to your PC, only keep your hax entry point and rxTools etc.
