what choices do i have besides cubic ninja to run hax?

You can either use the qr code from here to autodirect you to the applicable exploit, or you can look at the list and see what matches up with 10.3 o3ds and visit that link manually.
As I mentioned:

Old3DS spider28hax Only 10.3.0-28(aka X.X.X-28)

So it looks like spider28hax is the exploit you need, not sliderhax.

Of course you need smea's boot.3dsx or starter pack to actually have something to boot into.
