well to make \fail safe mtehod they shdould make it if it fails to install it trys again and it should also have ftp option so if the files are fucked you can access them and fix them

Let it rest a bit before reseting. A bit of freezing at this step is normal. You do not want to turn off the system at any point between pressing Y and the system rebooting itself (or lagging on the reboot screen)

A word to everyone. If you are not COMPLETELY prepared to handle a bricking situation, do NOT downgrade yet until better tools exist. Many BRICKS have been caused by user error or bad luck. If you are scared, don't do it. We won't judge you for waiting until its safer.

I REPEAT, if you aren't ready to have a brick, do NOT attempt to downgrade.

I'm stuck. I downgraded successfully, then went back to 10.3 because the HBL wouldn't stop crashing. I then used tinyformat, and reset my entire System, and now when I try downgrading, I either cant get past the status updates, or when I press an option, nothing happens.
EDIT: If I hold the A button, it loads up...but then it forces to install the updates. nothing actually happens though. No files are completed or anything. Then it reboots after 10 seconds. I still cant change the options.

I'm getting an error:

titleException:
main.cpp:108: Result: 0xD900182F
Failed to get CIA file info!

I had this problem before when I downgraded my o3ds earlier this year, and it was related to Mac's ._ files. I'm using Windows with hidden files visible now and not seeing anything wrong. Is this maybe a different error code from before?
same error here, 0xD900182F, i've been trying for litterally hours.
Using a toshiba microsd 4GB formatted as fat32.
The cia I'm sure are good and in the "updates" folder on root of sdcard.

They didnt. This is all unreleased code that someone snagged and compiled. Wasn't till later that a test version was made public. This not an official release. But, no one reads.

well your 3ds is not broken when its a brick but the os is messed up and theirs no way to intall it again unless you open it up

Several people over in my tutorial have the problem that they can't run homebrew at all, just black screen. I suspect there's still something fishy with those downgrades.

That won't work either. The software is digitally signed with an impossible encryption to the console it's installed to. You can't use a hardmod method unless you've personally made a backup from that same unit. These bricks are permanent.

Since at this point, the error seems to be a program error, or otherwise anything we can't readily see, I'm just going to wait until ktm is released. I don't mind waiting. I'm not updating, so I have nothing to worry about

but if you send it into Nintendo how do they fix it you can just call them and say i turned my 3ds off while updating by mistake will cost money but its cheaper then buying a new 3ds

Is it possible to do a NAND backup from 10.3 without a hardmod? I'd like to give this a try, and if it bricks I could then get a hardmod installed to restore the backup.
