After speaking to @SonyUSA I believe this thread has value as an information resource. I am going to reopen it for now so Sony can keep it updated and answer questions about this upcoming hack as it will be very useful to the community.

Since IOSU is coming next week (hopefully), and apps will be ported there to 5.5.0, would it be good to update now? I'm on 5.4.0 and I want to play online/homebrew/etc. I can't do nothing atm

I'm just giving an heads up so no one gets their hopes high for a Christmas eve release. Next week or so is a more plausible release date.

It sounded to me like he has everything for under 5.3.2 all set up and ready and that 5.4 and 5.5 are what he's wrapping up.

the goal is to release everything at once, giving people more than enough time to prepare themselves. It wouldn't be fair to release the exploit only for up to 5.3.2 and leave 5.4.0/5.5.0 users in the dust.

If no one replys I recommend messaging Hykem or Sony, they'll know, someone said there is a new update out but I don't think its true although I saw my Nintendo Wii U try and update something

How is it more stable in terms of running the exploit if there wasn't enough that changed from 5.4 to 5.5 to fix the exploit in general? I'm asking because I heard it was going to run fine on all the announced compatible firmwares.

I've heard from those on the inside that it's just more stable. How it is, I'm not sure. I think it has to do with the browser itself being updated and that they may have to use different entrypoints, but I can't say for sure.
