Well someone told me modding (HANS most likely) goes up to 10.X. Is that true because I really want to start modding Kid Icarus: Uprising?
I wouldn't hold my breadth on them. IF there is a hack, they'll have it, eventually. I really doubt they're holding onto one. They seemed to focus on cheat menus and brickware. If they spent their energy on finding more exploits. But to give them credit, if competition simply didn't rip-off every hack they do, they'd be more inclined to stay focused.

They had great accomplishments over the past year. I've owned a Gateway from the original release and never regret buying one. I'd never buy one of the knock-offs. And Sky3DS shows how a company just goes after your $s by releasing products that intentional are limiting so you have to feel compelled to continually buy the next version.

However, with CFW and CIA, it really diminishes the need for Gateway. My O3DS XL, I simply keep the card in for purposes of booting the emunand. I know I can just boot rxtools mset and eliminate the need for Gateway altogether. All my recent games I'm playing are in CIA form, and I only keep the legacy stuff that I rarely play in ROM. Backing up 3DS collection to ROM was definitely very easy with Gateway. Would even better if it went the extra mile and let you convert to CIA directly from the gateway menu.

They are definitely holding onto stuff just waiting till all the competition gets locked out then BAM! 10.3 Emunand on New 3DS with a new kernel exploit and more features.

Realistically, if they "had the goods" they would have released it in November to drive sales. Anyone who is buying a 2015 new 3ds is buying (or trying to buy) the Sky3DS (and Sky3DS+). A lot of unwrapped Sky3DS this christmas. With the delays in the Sky3DS+, with plenty of stock of gateway cards in the market, a quick and juicy update to the card that unlocked these desirables would have resulted in a very good holiday buying season for the Gateway folks.

The Sky3DS was already pretty much locked out with the new games with the AP, and the delays in Sky3DS+. It would have been the optimum part to release the real good hacks now.

They have 0 incentive to do such a thing when all of their features work do you know how big a deal a kernel exploit is? They could keep it a secret till for example 23.4.0-28 and drop it all over everyone faces or sell it to someone else for millions.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

This is nothing like the Wii U hacking scene...
They are a card manufacturer no one needs flash cards anymore since rxTools is open source and does everything a gateway card can do + more (minus native .3DS loading).

Yes. It's just a substitution for better boot rate.

OOTHAX is a modified save of OOT, so nothing's altered in OOT cartridge hardware.

Believe me, modding 3DS has becoming very much easier than when I first started learning back in June(?) and before that.

The concept can be easily summarize as: Back up original NAND -> Install CIA installer on NAND (to later make EMUNAND CIA installer)-> Create EMUNAND-> Unlink NAND (Optional)-> Install MenuHAx to AutoBoot to CFW (Optional)-> Install CFWs (which use EMUNAND).

If you don't mind using your SYSNAND, this is very straight forward approach: Back up original NAND -> Install Browserhax/OOTHAX-> Install Menuhax to autoboot into Homebrew Launcher (Optional) -> Run Pasta CFW (Install is just drop drag the Pasta CFW 3dsx into 3DS folder on mSD). That's it

fot OOTHax (100% success rate when booting?) I need a save modding hardware card?

best wishes!

What about a boxed and sealed old 3DS XL?
What is the last firmware they come?
It's a red/black color.
Any risks of getting a 9.2+?
I'm ordering online, that's why the concern.
All unopened O3DSes will be less than 9.2.

No. Only the first run of Majora's Mask N3DS XLs are exploitable. It's very likely that if you buy a MM N3DS XL it will be above 9.2.

ok, but after that procedure do I have to start OOTHAX every time before I can launch homebrew or do I only have to use OOTHAX once and then I have a modded/auto booting homebrew 3DS?
