I hate when I can't respond to things. Stupid art teacher not allowing ipads in class.

No worries lol. But i still need some clarification of OoT if you can help :)

I'm really afraid that somehow i ended up not being able to use menuhax anymore so im trying to find another entry point asap before that happen. I've already started searching for second hand o3ds and see if anyone have one with old firmware or something

Well, if you are looking to get a low firmware 3DS, I recommend getting the 2DS MK7 bundle, as that always comes below 9.2 if that is what you are looking for.

Oh i can only get 3ds because the game that i modified with homebrew is pokemon, so 2ds cant read it.

Also, it's much rarer than i thought, so im just going to try installing OoT on a brand new 3ds instead.
Does it only run on specific firmware or it's works on the latest firmware as well?

2DS can play Pokemon X/Y/OR/AS/D/PE/PL/HG/SS :)

What are you talking about? The 2DS can play any game a 3DS can. (Other than Xenoblade.) OOThax works from 9.5 - 10.3, which is the latest firmware. Also, you can buy the 2DS online for about $130.

EDIT: @Jwiz33 you ninja!

So I'm using a 2DS that's on 6.0.0-12U. I want to be able to install CIAs (using the legal installation method on rxTools), and I'm following this (page 49, install FBI over health and safety). I get stuck on the "Install FBI" part on the rxTools menu. For one thing, I'm not getting an option to choose between emunand or sysnand (I don't even know how to boot into emuNAND), and whether I press check TMD only or Inject FBI, I get an error. I'd really like some help with this.

Forgive me if I sound stupid, I'm brand new to the whole CIA-FBI-CFW-whatever part of 3DS hacking.

You would have no use to install it on sysNAND, as the signatures would need to be patched for you to load anything. Setup emuNAND. I believe it auto installs FBI for you onto your emuNAND. Plus, it will work no matter what on emuNAND, because signatures are auto-patched. (Both FBI and the games you install). To install emuNAND, go to this guide and follow the FBI injection for 3DS/2DS part: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-installing-rxtools-custom-firmware-3ds-and-2ds.390867/

I got some CIAs installed, two retroarch ones (PSX and SNES) but when I try to launch either of them, it crashes and sends me back to the home menu?

I just opened my 3DS (9.6.0-24U) 2 days ago so I have a few questions:

1: Can I get back in the browser after installing menuhax?
2: Can I update games and play online while still being on 9.6?
3: What can brick my 3DS (which should be a whole separate thread, kernel or user mode)?
4: Can I remove menuhax (which I wont do until the 9.6.0 Gatewait is over)?

And yes I tried Google, but this is a Noob thread.

So I want to update code name steam but I am on 10.1

If I put the sd card and game into another 3ds system (which is 10.3) and update the game and put the sd card back into my 10.1 3ds hould it be ok?

No, you can't do this. Because the games are encrypted, putting the SD in the other 3DS will only give you the option to redownload it. Don't try it. It could mess things up. Until we get another eshop spoof, its not going to happen.

jst gonna clarify (sorry if this post reaks of noobiness) that this is a physical cartridge

Internet Browser display an update message on 3DS (9.9 to 10.2), so it can't be used to launch HB :(
There is a trick to launch it but it only works on NEW 3ds.
