Unbricking thread.

First one here...
Second.

I recomend staying on version 3.4.1 for now; since it is the last version before the DSTWO+ came out.

Lets keep a tally going for this, that should be fun.

This is just stupid.

Just as a note for anyone that was bricked, you will need a hardmod, a nand backup, and a raspberry pi A, I believe B and the 2nd one will not work. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Somewhere there is a tutorial on this forums, a quick search will yield it. There is also a video tutorial.

With all the custom firmware and modified launchers and what not,

I'm surprised that only 2, and specifically tied to DStwo+, are the ones who got bricked.

I figured it would have been sooner.

Thing is, if there is this so called BC embedded again in their latest launcher, how long will it be until genuine users may be affected, even if it's better obfuscated than before?

It's all fine and dandy having a dig at DStwo users, yet this shit should never be in their in the first place, regardless if you wanna call it protecting their IP.

You don't want another fiasco again like it was with their V2 beta back in Jan 2014.

It is not a matter of obfuscation, but a matter of the trigger code working.

they already warned every one there is a serious flaw in the supercard plugin, not gw laucher.dat
"We have noticed some serious and dangerous flaws in an unofficial Gateway emulation plugin"
You're taking a pirate's words at face value? Sometimes you need to read between the lines.

in other words it's okay to steal
They brick code is complete bullshit. I dont even honestly understand the point of a gateway if you can just use Rxtools. GW has no right to brick consoles.
gw doesn't brick them Supercard does

This is seriously annoying. Not the fact that clone buyers get bricks, they got warnings.

But the fact GW actually spends time working on brick code while they could have found keys for 9.5+ emuNAND or worked on a MSET 9.2 or even autoboot. But no, due to clones, instead of working on pleasing their userbase, they work on killing others' userbases.

Now, I know what you are going to say. "You're defending stealers who defend themselves from stealers ?". Yes, there is an ethical problem, I don't argue with this.

But don't tell me the clones deserve the money more than GW. If you think GW doesn't deserve any money, then you should think that cloners don't deserve any more. GW were the ones to work hard in the first place. Yes, to steal, but at least they worked for it instead of just selling what others already sell. Plus, GW doesn't allow only piracy. It also allows you to have an updated firmware to play newer games while still keeping a low firmware for HB exploits. This is now defeated by CFWs (those with emuNAND capabilities) but I don't think any of these CFWs currently in use nowadays would have seen the day without GW. The absence of clones wouldn't have bothered though.

I hope cloners will learn their lesson this time and let people who try to contribute work without distraction.

They are not steeling though, is Dolphin stealing? Same thing.
SC is emulating the hardware of the GW, and then the user downloads the GW software.
Dolphin isn't stealing because the GC isn't sold anymore. Clone cards are stealing because people who buy their cards don't buy GW's.

So you buy a gun, shoot yourself then you blame it on the one who sold it to you. Bravo sir, bravo.
It is more like someone selling you a gun, then the a second seller shooting the buyer.

Wiis are sold, and it emulates them aswell.

How about this, we stop debating ethics and keep it to brick reporting?

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.

I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol

I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.

Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
