I think the DSTwo Plus bricked my 3DS XL...

    Hi guys,

    my 3DS XL (FW9.2) was working like a charm with my Gateway Card for 3DS and my DSTwo for DS.
    I've bought a DSTwo Plus, so that I do not have to carry more than one cartridge.

    While I've setup the DSTwo plus, there weren't any Problems. EmuNAND was loading via go.gateway... roms are running fine (11 Dumps, all legally owned).

    After completing the setup, I've done 1 (one) boot to gateway mode with the Gateway card.
    While my next boot after, was done with the DSTWO Plus, ther was a double white screen for 10 minutes after I've opened the gateway link. After thes 10 minutes the 3DS automatically shut down.

    Next "try" to start the 3DS end in a BlueScreen with the following Message:

    What does this mean?
    And can I fix this?

    Gateway does brick dstwo plus... you shouldn't use both cards...

    If you have a nand backup, which im assuming you have since you use gateway, you can unbrick with a hardmod

    Shit. Gateway were serious about bricking your 3ds. do you have a NAND backup?

    The problem is Gateway launcher.dat

    DSTwo just uses gateways software, just like the R4 and ...Orange3DS? I think that was the name. This is just Brickway round 2, because now there's a new company piggybacking off Gateways work.


    OP, I hope you have a nand backup and a hardmod. There's an unbricking thread here somewhere, shouldn't be too hard to find with a search.

    I mean, the Gateway team alluded to this in their latest launcher release. How could people not see this coming?

    BTW you don't need a NANDMOD if GW still uses the same way to brick consoles. There was a way without backup.

    Just an FYI, a hardmod and NAND backup will not fix this sort of brick. You need a Raspberry Pi (not the newest version).

    Yeah. In the 3.5.0 release, as soon as I saw
    it immediately set off alarm bells. I don't think I've even updated to this version because I don't want to have an accidental brick like the last time the Gateway team tried fucking around with this kind of code.

    Yes, I've done a NAND backup a day before the brick, while I'm separating Sys & EmuNAND.
    I think I'll give my DSTwo+ back to the dealer and tell him I had a brick..... at least to get my 50€ for the flash card back.

    Yeah I know, but I've used the DSTWo + Launcher.dat with DSTwo+ only and the Gateway 3.5.1 Launcher.dat with Gateway only. I've used 2 separate SD-Cards with an extra EmuNAND on each. Each created with the card to use.

    Do you have a link for infos?
    I need to know what to ask if I find a hardmodder.

    The problem is that IS gateways launcher.dat, just with the logo, and some other things changed. It detects that it's been modified from the original gateway version, triggering the brick. It's unfortunate, but yeah hundshammer does great hardmods in the USA.
