Yes, but JPN CN/sky3ds are about the same price and they aren't that cheap. So first you would have to get one of these cartridge, then you have to take a risk to update (it might update to 10.3), then you can use entry point for autoboot. You can try if you can bear the risk.

Given the prices of CN or Sky3ds, I'm considering sending it to a third party who is able do the update based on what he's said. should something go wrong, I know he's capable of undoing the damage.

Most likely it will never be done because it is understood among the devs that people like GW, sky3ds , retailers in china are stealing the works of devs.

I think it's really cool how yellows8 changed the default wavy 3ds logo that you always see for official apps.
(must have been motivated by that copyright paranoia he's famous for )

Pretty sure you can just install the BootNTR cia through Gateway Mode in order to load NTR.

I think this causes the same problem that prevents sysupdater from being used. If anyone with a hard mod is willing to try go ahead, but I think it will brick.

Even if you're willing to do that, I will tell you that it's more expensive and taking more time to receive it than buy one on Amazon JP.
BTW, for normal people, they can't ship Sky3DS because they don't know how to avoid their Sky3DSes being forfeited by custom - since some countries have treated that as illegal.
