I originally intended to post this thread in the Nintendo DS section but then I thought that other systems should be considered to for a more wide variety and that's how this thread came into life.

Here is my list of games that I have playes for hours:

Lego Batman - I love Batman. I also love LEGO. I spent playing this game alone for countless hours on my PSP. I would then make my custom characters and replay almost any level and have my own inner monologue. Even if the game did feel short, the character creation and my inner monologue definitely made me spent many hours on this game.

Lego Starwars II - Pretty much the same reason as above.

Pokemon HeartGold - Definitely a masterpiece. The game's music was enough to keep me playing it for many hours.

MarioKart DS - I love wasting my time on this game with friends on Versus mode

Assassin's Creed II - I love this game so much. I spent so much time on it trying to complete everything. I eventually ended up collecting all of the feathers (forgot how many were they). And since my game would immediately crash when I tray to enter an Assassin Stronghold, I can't get Altaïr's armor so I ended up beating the game with the Missaglias Armor

Wind Waker GC/WiiU : Figurine collecting is fun and time consuming I'm recently replaying this on WiiU I played it for GC in the past had the tingle tuner active and collected all but like 3 figurines.

Battletoads battlemaniacs SNES: I can beat the s*** out of pigs all day long. I love level 1-3 then it starts getting real... I still have not beat this game without cheats I make it to the snake level everytime and always forget the patterns.

Paper Mario N64: I can replay this game over and over and over it never gets old. I never found all the badges but have gotten many and beat the game multiple times.

Kirby's Dreamcourse SNES: Another old one but a classic. I played this game as a kid and still do to this day. it's a fun multiplayer game with all the on course enemies and awesome power ups my favorite being the tornado and hitting player 2 lol knock them off the map. I've beaten this game but never gotten gold on all courses.

I have many more games I could play for hours but most of those are RPG's and require you to play hours at a time.

Easily, the Persona games, they are the kind of games that after some days of playing, you get tired out of it, but after not playing that game for a day, you don't feel tired, you want more, specially Persona 3 & 4, they are the kind of games that, once you take the controller and you start playing, there is no turning back anymore.

Most Metroid games: I enjoy the exploration in the game. I like taking my time and exploring every nook and cranny.

Well, just about any game in general that has an overarching story, exploration, solid skill based gameplay with progression, and introduces you to the world at a steady pace, I'll probably enjoy it for hours. Just these past couple of years I've seriously enjoyed (including remakes and remasters) off the top of my head:

Shovel Knight, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, Bastion, Dust: An Elysian Tail, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Cave Story+, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, SteamWorld Dig, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, and Freedom Planet.

Games like Shantae and the Pirate's Curse I happily spent ten hours on in my playthrough, I just enjoy taking my time and exploring these colorful worlds.

this seems too easy, but when I'm in the mood, Minecraft. I really can play that for hours without realizing what time it is. especially when I haven't played it for a long time and I want to do everything again. this game just never gets stale.

I used to play Team Fortress 2 so much (1,299 hours!). then Gun Mettle happened.

not much after that. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth for 3DS is what I've spent a while playing, though not for several hours in a single go (more like spread throughout the day).

I used to play Animal Crossing: New Leaf almost endlessly for weeks after it first released. now it's just really hard to get back into, even after I backed up my save (I don't like losing progress) and started over. same could be said for Splatoon really, without the starting over bit.

and, well... I've realized that ever since ironhax happened I've played much less games on the 3DS.

Pokémon - It doesn't matter which Gen. I will play for hours. It's an addiction of mine.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - I've literally played this game so many times I memorized the location for everything. I can keep doing it too. I'm very passionate about this title.

Dark Souls I/II - This satanic game.. I typically keep trying. I don't care how many times I die. I will spend all day playing to get it right. (Heh, Rhymes)

Bravely Default - I've recently gotten into this game. I find it quite enjoyable. I kind of wish I bought the Japanese version instead because I like the voices and reading it helps me improve my vocabulary.

Super Mario 64 - When I pick the controller up and start a new file, I won't stop playing until I'm somewhere in the 40-70 Star range! XD

Well when Tales of Vesperia came out I spent about 100 hours in the first 5-6 days or so it was released. Good times. That was just my first playthrough. I think I beat it another 3-4 times before I moved onto something else.

Pretty much every RPG I play I spend hours at a time in. Probably the ones i've clocked the most time in though is the Devil Survivor series (about 300+ hours for 1 and 2 with the 3DS versions as well), and hundreds into the Tales series. With about 700 hours alone into Tales of Symphonia when I was younger. I used to play Tales games all day long when not at school.

I spent a ludicrous amount of time on Mario Kart DS beating every single staff ghost, and people in my classes all played it.

Dark Souls 1/2 are games that I generally can't stop playing once I start. I usually clock 5+ at a time when I do play it. Too fun screwing with people online in DS2.

Gothic III. It's one of those games where I suddenly realize that the sun is rising and I still have the urge to clear that one more quest. ;)

And Dragon Quest X. Once you team up with a few friends you can be sure it will be a long night full of boss battles and questing.

Pokemon Red (with codes) - i love old gen pokemon and feel like a god using always critical hit (for me) etc :D

Metal Gear Portable Ops Plus - amazing and funny game, and portable. Infinity Mission Hard and Extreme, using cheat to have knife (the OP knife) its funny to use and use the quick headshot trick to kill during alerts are too funny.

Fable The Lost Chapter - One of most funn yand complete game for me, nothing more to say. Amazing and great/funny style.

Super Double Dragon - The style of this side-scrolling beat em up still unbeatable even now for me. A piece of story.

Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D - a test game, i know, full of sh*t glitch, ok, but still funny. The system of gain time by killing enemy in particular way make the game to be played for so many hours.

Mario Smash Football - the only football game i played (execption for Captain Tsubasa Get in the Tomorrow). Really funny without items and super-strike.

Many other games surely, but the list will be too long :P Those are the only my recent games eheh...

Most recently Undertale. I beat the entire game with the true pacifist ending in a day.
I also played Bravely Default for hours and hours.
The other semi-recent one was Fez.
Very few games get me so hooked that I want to keep playing and playing. I normally take frequent breaks and maybe put the game down for a few days/weeks at a time before picking it back up.

I play all games I currently have for long hours. The only reason why I play games is to relieve all the stress I have due to my very hectic schedule (part time job and university). Naturally, I just play whatever games I can find in my shelf. Just started replaying Resident Evil 6 and Resident Evil 3.
