originally a mkwii track

do you have any requests for future tracks? i need to finish this one, GCN luigi circuit, Block Plaza, and i think that's all my CTs atm

Huh, I see. You don't necessarily have to stay faithful, you could upgrade courses a bit to be more visually appealing/better racing experience

As for courses, it would be nice to see DS Rainbow Road, unless the physics are way too complicated. Otherwise, maybe a version of GCN Yoshi's Circuit that still has the underground shortcut in it

Loops dont work in MK7 yet, and I hear someone is working on DS Yoshi Circuit. I'm going to do a few simple projects then maybe do something complex.

Hello,
I am a total noob at custom tracks. How are you using these custom tracks? Are you repacking the items in the RomFS into a cia file? Or is there a rom made out of this? Any explanation or tutorial would be great. I have been searching how to do this, but maybe I overlooked something. Currently I have the RomFS right now, so that is not a problem. I know that you replace the file provided into the RomFS folder (the Wario's Gold Mine is replacing a track in the game). The problem is how I can go from the RomFS to a cia/rom. I do not even know if this is possible, or if you have to use HANS for this. I saw a CTGP cia file somewhere, so I am hoping that it is possible to make a cia from this.

I'm running my custom courses with Hans via *hax 2.5, but you can also run prebuilt cias and roms. I'd recommend Hans if you have the actual game. Just take your romFS and use romFS extractor to get the files, then replace your track in the courses folder. Then, use romFS builder to package it back up, stick it in the hans directory with the correct name (00030800.romfs) and you're good to go.

Also, question. Anyone here know why I'm getting flickering textures? There's some sort of white speckles on my track that happens at lower altitudes, but a lot of the higher portions of my track are fine. I was making a course over DK Jungle if that matters.

You need to texture both sides of your model and the problem will be fixed :)

Now the course has the correct size (Like in the Wii version):

I now have to fix my KMP and some Model-Bugs...
Release?

So I started a new course because I felt like I was spending too much time perfecting a test track that I made in five minutes. However, I ran into a really weird glitch that I thought I'd share (excuse the potato camera).

I have no idea what is going on there. Could be something to do with the KMP I'm working on fixing (screw kmps though).

Its the KMP counting you OoB, not weird at all.

What's wrong with the top screenM

screen?*
The bottom screen map shows up on top for some reason and the audio gets all weird at the end. I just thought it was odd.

Also the end of the video has it happen for a long period of time.

Hello, I'm back with a work in progress course!

I hope I'm not asking too many questions. I just really want to make some courses. Right now, the problem I'm facing is with the black squares on my textures. I'm modeling my course in Sketchup if that matters.

I think I've got the KMP down pretty well to the point where I can drive the whole course. The CPUs get stuck though so I need to look into that. Item boxes are still not moved and the sand slowing you down is a glitch since I thought that ID was visual and didn't actually slow you down.

But yeah, thought I'd show my current project, and help with the textures is appreciated!

Soon. I have to make the enemy paths and (probaply)animations workink the right way.I also fixed some textures (the rails, pipes, fence, wood) and now I have to fix lagging. But I think I will release Beta 0.1 by the end of the week!

Also: If you have troubles with your KMP read this:
http://www.dshack.org/forum.php?page=thread&spage=1&tid=119&pid=960#960

Edit: I also found out (while watching Game of Thrones) that there is a min. Distance between right and left checkpoint!

  • I recreated the course from the original Wii Course! It has now
    - Much Higher Textures
    - More Deteiled/Bug Free Model
    - Fixed KMP (Wood sounds,fixes)
    - It has the right Scale
    - A bottom screen map (incomplete)
    - Working Enemy Paths
    - Working Item Paths
    - Itemboxes and Coints
But it also has a bit of lag and somehow crashes in the second round in GP. But you can drive in Time Mode without lags
Here is the Download if you want to test/help with the crash: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lya2c1er2ijlhsz/Gctr_GlideLake(Alpha2).szs?dl=0
If you help me with the lag/(more important:) the crash in the second round you will be credited under special thanks

I need to finish KMP , rework the sky.
But it have good visual, colision and also original music as normal and final lap :)
No ANY lag in Old 3ds :)

oh yeah you can hear Bowser when you enter the castle itself!
(Tbh that mostly like the Wii version I did just with some little texture and mesh rework to fit 3DS. that why it it a bit blurry in texture.)
