Actually, with 10.2 payload in the save slot , running oot3dhax_installer to download 10.3 payload still works.
So sdvt is not necessaryB-)

Just double checking - you're saying I can just overwrite the payload installed in slot1 by downloading and installing the 10.3 to that right?

Anyway, I need some troubleshooting.

So, I switched my payload from 10.2.23U to 10.3.23U, and went on my way to updating. For some odd reason, SmashHax and OOTHax wouldn't want to boot right in for reason. All I got is a red screen for OoThax and SmashHax would just kick me right back to the Home menu. Help? :(

Bump.

The last number doesn't actually matter because that's just the browser.
Uh, I don't know where you got that it's the browser. That's the update number. every time the 3ds updates, so does the -xx number by 1.

EDIT: Excuse my stupidity. It is for the browser version. But that number does still matter as far as I know.

The last number is NVer and that is the browser.
If you update by cartridge, that last number doesn't change because cartridge updates don't update the browser.

(And btw, we went from 10.2.0-28U to 10.3.0-28U)

See my edit. Sorry for being ignorant.

EDIT: Also, he said he went from 10.2.0-23 to 10.3.0-23. So I'm honestly not sure at this point.

Said number does not matter. In fact, you can test it for yourself by downloading a payload for 10.3.0-7U and 10.3.0-30U and comparing them in a hex editor. The files are identical.
This is also the same reason why some *hax installers don't even let you specify the NVer. (I think the oot3dhax installer didn't let you specify it, even.)

Well, then I fully retract my statement, and I am sorry. I still hope to help this person out c:

Yep, I did indeed use a 10.3.0-23U payload on my OoThax before it cease to function. I updated the payload before I downloaded the newest firmware. I tested it as soon as it was done, it worked fine, but then it cease to function on my second boot.

...Maybe it was the grid launcher? I did attempt to update it on my first boot on 10.3.0-23U. If it helps, anyway I could reverse the affects? I tried to replace all of data with the newest homebrew starter kit from smea's site, at first it looked like it went through... only to be stuck at a red screen after robbin finishes booting.

This sucks.

I found the source of the problem, it seems the payload was corrupted with a older version of masher's grid launcher.

I basically brought a new microSD card (and might I say, it's FAST.) and basically fixed it by using SmashHax, replaced the payload and now it's good as new!

I'm still on version 10.1.0-27U (so I can still use ThemeHax)
Attempted to use the offline OOT installer, but it says "failed" or something because I don't have the payload.

Where will I get a payload for 10.1?

EDIT: Never mind that, as I downloaded the one for 10.1... but it says "something went wrong" :(

"Failed to download payload. Error code: FFFFFFFE"

Why would you use the offline installer to begin with? Just use the online one..?

Changes:

  • Payload determination is now server-side, following sploit_installer's changes.
  • Consequently, local payload functionality is gone for now.

Just throwing out this out here for the sake of sharing:

Previously i was hugging 10.2 due to HANS firmware spoof eshop but I had to buy some DLC now so I decided to give the replacing payload.bin with downloaded otherapp payload (renamed) using svdt a shot. Result = works perfectly

Im using the installer and I'm a tad confused. I'm on an N3DS EUR, non XL. It says only to select "New" if it's the XL variant. Should I just select "old"??
