Will the 2.1 payload run on the newest start kit he has? If it doesn't then that might be where I'm going wrong with it?

Payload is completely independent of the starter kit. The starter kit is just a couple homebrew you might find useful but they aren't actually needed.
You just won't be able to use HANS or take screenshots or use HANS shortcuts.

On at least certain systems the 2.1 payload should be able to boot using the new boot.3dsx but without all the features (for example, HANS won't work).

Pretty sure it doesn't (except maybe the functionality that regionfive already had). At the very least I don't believe the e-shop program works.

After ALOT of attempts and trial and error, I finally got this thing to load a 2.1 payload on 10.2 I don't even think it is hit or miss per console, seems to be hit or miss per install

I have a problem. I installed the payload of 10.1E on a 9.8E 3DS with the Offline installer.
But when I go to the save and click on Objects, it stop the game, returns the game and says Error and I need to restart.
Someone have some ideas?

You need the right payload for your firmware.

I have it, I downloaded it from the link of all the smea github.io, thats why I installed it from the offline installer.
Something more? :c

That is not the right firmware. The 2.5 payload is dodgy with OoTHax. You'll need to grab the 2.1 otherapp payload from here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/nmz771n1gb97ak7/Themehax_Installer_offline_v1.2.zip

It has the same name as the file you downloaded from smea's github, though.

Have tried for consecutive days to no avail 10.2 is stuck with payload 2.1 atm haha. They say it was hit and miss but I've been re installing and inserting payload 2.5 any methods I can think of to no avail ahahaha
