Because of the new hacks, I believe that the chance of a smash bros 3ds hack is near. Is there anyone who would like to do research on how smash games work and how you could edit the game? I don't think anyone has hacked smash to the point of its engine.
.......................................
If you have something rude to say, you shouldn't say it here.
Lets get some ideas in the comments!;P

As awesome as Smash hacking is, do we really have to jump and make YET ANOTHER MELEE?
Well not melee but maybe.. Ganonpikachu?
But seriously I hope someone can explore and open the doors for smash bros mods. I wish I could help but I am learning a little LUA coding

Wow, you are a true genius. A pioneer of the modding community. This is the first time this idea has ever been thought of ever. Good work. Im glad you're doing your part in the modding community by coming up with the concept and posting thread. Its good that you are allowing people to work on your project for you.

People like you... Stop acting superior to others. I just asked if anyone could explore deep in smash bros. And just so you know, I am learning a little code so I can work on things like this. Now please leave. I don't have time for rude trash.

This thread has no purpose besides you being the first to coin the idea. Threads like these are obnoxious

He was clearly joking.

The only problem is, Project M was a massive project that took years of work to make happen. 3DS game hacks have literally just birthed. It's like a parent trying to get their 12 year old into high-school.

going to drop two probably offending opinions here, stick with me now

A. Project M2 definitely isn't happening from the PMDT, and nobody else has the knowledge of brawl-4 engine code to do it at the moment. maybe Dantarion, but he's sworn to only make Melee Marth and nothing more, so I'd just skip that for now. Plus - say it with me now - PM2 would be a total joke to start with. 55 characters, four of which are _DLC_ (do you realize the implications of a mod and DLC?) and three of which are the ubercustomizible Miis. combine that with things like custom moves and you're gonna have a bad time coding this mess, much less making it good

B. you should never, ever ever ever, immediately request a romhack for a game that isnt completely solved just because there's a way to do so now. Just don't.

Yah I understand. I wish I could change the thread title. I want to know if someone could look into it or if anyone is. I am sorry if I hurt anyone in the making of this thread.

You didn't do anything wrong! You just had an idea and wanted to share it. Some people are just tired of seeing things like this, but nobody can predict what others are going to be triggered by.

I understand:) do you know of anyone is exploring on this? Also of you can I would love if you voted. Even the smallest mod like changing text can get us somewhere

If anything I'd like to see a mod to make the game more like 64 - it's already very close, it just has insanely good defensive options, so just nerf the hell out of shield stun, rolling, take out airdodging, etc. Although I admit I would love to play Shulk, Villager, Mega Man, Lucina, etc in a Project M-esque environment. By the way, to the guy who said "ANOTHER MELEE" if you knew anything about Project M you'd know that it's nothing like Melee. It may have been designed to play like Melee, but it's much deeper and has both exclusive tech and tech from Brawl.

You're talking to someone from inside the Brawl Hacking scene from way before the first public beta of Project M even came out.

So, believe me, I know a thing or two about ProjectM. And while the devteam's work is great (that it is), it's still Melee 2.0.

So I rather see fans come up with something new and fresh than see them keep trying to recreate the Melee mechanics time and time again.

Whether or not you were in the hacking scene has nothing to do with your knowledge of the competitive game.. Project M is by far it's own game, there's a reason it's called Project M and not Project Melee. I've played both Melee and Project M competitively for years (although note as long as others) so, believe /me/, I know a thing or two about the games, and PM is substantially different from Melee, as I'm sure that a mod of Sm4sh would be, even if it also intended to replicate the Melee engine as well.

Long time no see ;)

Anyways uh, im always working behind the scenes. While PM2 may or may not ever happen, a large mod like say *cough cough* brawlminus *cough* is always a possibility.

Whether or not you were in the hacking scene has nothing to do with your knowledge of the competitive game.. Project M is by far it's own game, there's a reason it's called Project M and not Project Melee.

Pretty sure Project M literally stands for Project Melee. I'm not disagreeing with you, PM is def it's own game in every right, but that doesn't invalidate his point. It's goal has pretty much always been first and foremost to create an enjoyable gameplay experience that is similar and familiar to Melee veterans, if not mimic it's engine as much as they could.

No. Stop it. Sm4sh is a perfect middleground. Stop invading the Smash community with what YOU Melee fans think is correct.

I've had enough of this argument over on Reddit and pretty much every other forum in existence, but fine, another lol opinions dump.

Hi, I've been playing Smash 4 with competitive intent since January. Ten months, whoop dee doo.

and Melee since.. like, a month and a half ago, tops. You should know, from this information, that I know the basics of Melee but have gone as deep into 4 as I can at the moment.

It doesn't take massive amounts of knowledge to detect that Sm4sh is no 'perfect middleground' - as honestly, if Melee is your point 1 and Sm4sh is your point 1.5, I have no idea what the hell your point 2 is.

Consider: 64 scene died on Melee release, revived, and is almost dead today; Brawl scene died _very quickly_ because of a flaw S4 has (defensive gameplay) along with one S4 makes worse (a horrible stagelist) and one S4 lacks (single-character meta); some fool tried to revive it, but needless to say, Brawl is almost dead. Smash 4, as soon as DLC is over, is definitely going to die as soon as two or three years, tops, unless Sakurai fixes a lot of crippling flaws in the game as-is, such as the _still_ defensively rewarding gameplay (no amount of 'but ZSS' and 'but shield nerfs!' will help with this; unless every character's offensive potential is increased, be it in the form of _much_ more hitstun or removing the massive amounts of lag found on most characters, or maybe just increasing the gravity) and the still awkward balance (I'd love to horseshit about how the balance is awful with you, but some concrete stuff for you: I compared the actual numbers of characters that are considered capable of winning a major to the full roster count, and Melee's is a few % higher). And yet.. Melee lasted 14 years.

64 has the advantage of hyperaggressive gameplay; Melee has the advantage of 14 solid years of characters being fleshed out to the core, deconstructed, reconstructed, time and time again until the true best were figured out and the question of 'why' no loner existed. It has the advantage of equally hyperaggressive gameplay to 64, with a technical play requirement that would make any fighting game fan get diabetes just off of how sweet it is. Brawl has the advantage of more technical aspects, such as things like DACUS which were found to be in S4's engine early on (FYI: it's a rehash of Brawl's engine, in case it wasn't noticable) and removed from 4 for no given reason.

4 has the advantage of.. a roster and looking nice. At best.

long story short..

not to shit on a game I love and all, but if someone releases a PM2 or a Smash 4+ to fix all of Sakurai's mistakes or even a Smash 4 Minus to fuck around with, I won't even feel slightly bad about letting go of the default game for a while, because Melee's gameplay is infinitely smoother and faster, S4 honestly has a lot of mistakes to fix, and atm S4 is missing the kind of fun horseshit that you kind of come to love that could be solved by each of those 3 things individually.

tl;dr for you: ignore the wall of text and let me ask you to, for the love of god, not generalize shit like 'you Melee fans' or 'lol sm4sh is perfect'. coming from someone who's played the game longer than any other smash game, please believe me when I say S4 has a lot of dumb shit to be handled before it's even close to being as good as Melee both objectively and from a general player perspective. I PRAY for a mod for the game to happen eventually.

..

tl;dr squared: let people mod whatever they want + I seriously need to learn how to respect people's opinions, jesus christ

So I rather see fans come up with something new and fresh than see them keep trying to recreate the Melee mechanics time and time again.

I feel like pointing out that outside of "lol lets just make PM2", there's not that much room for "things to do to make this a different, better game". 4+ and 4- maybe, but.. then what?
