Im just really scared to update, ive gotten so far in super metroid because my other save got erased when i updated yesterday and i had to start all the way over

@Slasher115 Are you sure your save got erased? Have you searched your SD card to check whether it's not just in a different directory?

Copy retroarch.cfg to your PC before updating. Update the cores, run one. Exit. Then overwrite the retroarch.cfg with the one you backed up.

All your settings, including save locations will be the same as before.

The bug doesn't erase your save, it just forces RetroArch to look at the wrong folder.

Okay so i backed up all my saves, from cores/savestates and savefiles and the rom directory for catsfc, i copied over and replaced with the newer cores and i loaded up the game and my save was still there so i guess it was fixed for catsfc, thanks for the help guys. Also what causes catsfc to lag so bad on loading up the title screen of metroid or the save screen? It only does it sometimes the frames heavily drop to around 0-10fps like its hanging

gpSP got a major speed boost on o3DS, Pokemon Ruby runs almost full speed, and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror runs at full speed. WarioWare Inc. was like 9 FPS though.

The game uses a dumb polling loop to wait for the next interrupt. This keeps the CPU running at 100% usage all the time. The patch changes the code so it uses a bios function to halt the CPU until the next interrupt, so it uses less battery power.

FCEUMM and Nestopia do. The disksys.rom file goes in retroarch/cores/system folder.

Registered specifically to say thanks for the work on this. CatSFC plus and FCEUMM are working almost perfectly on my N3DSXL (9.2, Gateway emunand, .cia versions, 10/24 build).

I've had a lot of crashes with gPSP though. Both on this build and both of the most recent 2 builds before (10/22, 10/23). Happens on .3ds and .cia versions, and doesn't seem to be triggered by any specific thing. Necessitates a full restart of my 3DS.

Are these freezes/crashes logged somewhere? I'd be happy to upload the logs somewhere if it would help with debugging. If not, just thought I'd let you know here.

So i have the FBA Cores Neo on my 3ds, and i had a download of metal slug 3 but the emulator wont load the rom, i clicked on the zip and it just stays there, im using the 3dsx version is there anything else i need to do?

Is it safe to update my 3DS to the latest firmware? I wanna buy Colors 3D, but I also wanna keep playing Neo-Geo games on my 3DS. Decisions, decisions...

Welcome to the board! Though methinks you should've registered on the libretro forums if you're offering thanks, they're the guys that make this.
I rolled back on gPSP after trying (I think) the 22/10 build, to something like the 17/10. These things happen, mainly due to the emu still being early, nightlies/unstable, working on x thing breaks y thing, etc... you could hook up with the devs and share your logs but at the moment I think the best thing is to get an earlier build that runs well and keep an eye out on the board for updates - the issues you're having have been mentioned earlier.

Well, no if you're using themehax of course as that's patched, but generally I'd say no (for today) anyway - smea might be releasing 2.5 tomorrow, which will give us eshop access regardless of firmware... There may be a delay in the release of course, but in this case I reckon a bit of patience may pay off.
