Currently my PSP 3000 is on 6.20 PRO-C. It is a permanent CFW, so no need to switch every time.
As far as I know I can only have a non permanent 6.60 CFW on it? I can switch from OFW to CFW then by something like a switch option in the XMB, and I am also able to let it do that automatically, so it is nearly the same as an permanent CFW?
I can always downgrade from 6.60 to 6.20 and then have permanent PRO-CFW?

There is already a 6.61 CFW?

Or should I follow this update?
http://psx-scene.com/forums/content...0-2-6-60-me-2-2-bug-fix-update-rahin-us-4575/

I checked my mainboardwith PSPIdent, it is a TA-092.

Here It is shown, that it can go to 6.20, which it is, but others to 6.60. Does that mean I can't go higher? Or is the list obsolete? Meaning i can go from 6.20 PRO-C to 6.20 ME? LME also? LME is the non permanent one? Then 6.20 CFW does the same as 6.60 cfw?
A bit confunsing for me.

I honestly would begin with the question: Why upgrade?

6.61 CFWs have been available for a while, but I wouldn't recommend them. (Using at the moment, can't downgrade.)

EDIT: Btw, cool Firebrand avatar.

Actually you can. There was a hex edited Chronoswitch Downgrader for 6.61. If I recall correctly, I don't think all the models were downgradable with this 'hex edit version'. But I know for sure it worked on PSP Go, and a few others.
Seriously?

I tried the downgrade (like, 5x) cuz the 6.61 plugins compatibility isn't enough for me. (And that's why I don't recommend it.)

Could you link me this one?

EDIT: Just noticed I was using this hex edit version.

Hi, is there anything wrong with cfw 6.61 or 6.60? I'm new here and I gave my psp away a while back so I'm planning on buying a used psp go (to kill time at work when my boss is not around). I checked its system info and found it's running on CFW 6.35.

The last MH game I played on my psp was MHF2, and I'm planning on playing MH3 when I buy the psp go on cfw 6.35 but a friend told me to make sure I'm using cfw 6.60 so I can play with him.

Are there any reasons why I shouldn't upgrade the CFW? And I'm also planning on playing a few games I wasn't able to play on my last PSP (because god knows how long ago that wasssssss........) like Dangan Ronpa, FF type- 0 and la pucelle and uhm a few otome games like tokimeki and sweet fuse....

I've forgotten how CFWs work but I'm pretty sure some new games won't work on an earlier FW, so can you guys help me out, should I upgrade to 6.60 or 6.61 or keep it at 6.35? Will I still be able to play the aforementioned games??

Hm did it not work for you? It worked just fine on my PSP Go when I last used it.
Oh, well. I'm sticking with the 6.61 LME since the 6.61 PRO seems more problematic.

@sejalovesralph
Wrong? I wouldn't say wrong, but 6.60 is just fine.

Can't say about 6.20 games compatibility cuz my PSP was in 6.60 for most of his life (but I guess newer games like Yu-Gi-Oh! Tag Force Special works just fine). You also didn't specify if you prefer a permanent CFW or not.

Anyway, just make it 6.60 and you can play anything (even that behemoth called Type-0).

@Hargrun
Thanks for the reply! I'll go for 6.60 then.

I have no idea what the difference is between a permanent and temporary CFW, anyone care to elaborate?

The existing CFW on the psp go is PRO 6.35, is that permanent?

Many thanks for anyone who'd answer!

@sejalovesralph
Basically some people find it annoying having to "re-activate the CFW" every time they turn the PSP on... Simply cuz it takes, like, 5 seconds. (Life is short, so abuse the sleep mode and #@$! the battery.)

If when you turn on your PSP it's already on the CFW, it's permanent. But I must warn that not all models support permanent CFW.

Tbh I just don't care about permanent stuff, so I would advise you seek appropriate info if you're still interested:

    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
    It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.

    the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze

    same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in

    Maybe.

    There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
    But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

    Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
