As now the injection of ROMs into VC games is possible, I wonder if is possible now or in the future to dump the .nes ROM of Earthbound Beginnings. This game hadn't got out officialy from Japan until Nintendo decided to released it only in the Wii U VC months ago

If you want to walk me through it I'll be happy to help. I have used the web site wj44.bplaced to do the exploit that's about it really.

Just do the kernel exploit then pyGecko, and then use the TCP Gecko application to dump the 0x10000000 area (10 in the dropdown checkbox). The ROM will be somewhere in there.

k do I need to run earthbound ?
Yes, you need to dump the memory in that area while in the app. You'll also need to look around for the ROM in the data using a hex editor, if you're not sure what it would look like, maybe try grabbing the Japanese Earthbound ROM for comparison and then search some bytes from it in the dump.

EDIT: Or actually, I think you can dump the ROM file directly, there's a file browsing tab. Try that instead.

What I actually want is him going to the FSA tab, so he dump the entire vol folder, For all VC files. If he want/can to :)

When I go in to the FSA tab it said something about a wrong WII U OS? I am dumping memory address 10... 70% and the console froze....

Off topic question where would be the best place to see offsets change when memory fewer is set on auto? Also best address place to look for game offsets? For some reason all my searches have failed...

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term

AI assisted game creation might become a thing

At least that's something I think would be pretty cool.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Many TBs of assets and the programming of something like that is going to be tough but I think it's something we might see in 20 years maybe sooner
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and using LLMs to generate NPC dialogue and even dynamically generated quests is something i'm sure is already happening
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
will just take some time for games made using those things to be completed and released
