BTW, has anyone been able to compile latest portal3DS from sources with latest ctrulib and to get a working build?

Try compile it with linux. I have too some problems with cubes if i compile them on windowsI don't know what I'm missing then, my build crash whenever I go into a portal xD

No, portal won't compile on latest citrulib, that's why there's a pull request with the needed changes on github.
Is this for o3ds? Does it crash after placing a portal on level 2?This is a build I made a week ago or so, try it:

Portal 3ds is somewhat unstable, but I've been able to play de levels and the only crashes I've had were restarting the level after triggering a some bug due to "forcing" the portals a little (portals in the edges of walls, etc)

I have a n3ds, is there any difference?
Didn't crash for me on lvl 2.
Ok, I didn't know, I'll compile later with modified o3ds controls. Maybe it crashes due to o3ds having less memory?If it doesn't have modified controls you can't jump nor pick blocks in O3DS
