In all seriousness, we don't know. These things, they take time. Whenever it's ready, it'll be released. Hopefully in the very near future, but Smea may want to wait a few days until more people have downloaded the YT app before releasing the exploit. Or maybe he just releases it as soon as he wakes up today and ends this nightmare. We don't know, and won't know until it's released.

So at the moment i have a Gateway card and am on FW 9.7 have copied all my retail cart games on to my SD card so i no longer need to carry all the carts around with me. Will this youtube exploit allow me to have my 3ds games on the SD card, if not ill just stick to Gateway??.

But i would like to purchase some games from the eShop however (Gunstar Heroes & SR2) which at the moment im unable to with Gateway as it doesnt support the latest FW from Nintendo. If this new Youtube exploit allows me to copy my 3ds games to the SD card and also purchase games from the eShop then ill move on from Gateway??

The crashing and things indicate poor coding, yes. That means it was practically begging for an exploit to run homebrew. I'm surprised it took this long now that I look at it.

He's already demonstrated the app being hacked so I think Nintendo already has plenty of motivation to pull it already.
I don't think releasing the exploit files would speed them up any. They know about it.

If he found the exploit on 2 eshop apps then there are probably more of them.
Previous week he announced ironhax in the weekend so that we got some time to download it before it was taken down(expected it to be taken down on monday)
This week as soon as the weekend started he annouched youtubehax.
If there are other exploitable apps then it can take a few more weeks i think.
He probably won't release it before everything is taken down from the eshop, so that as many as possible can enjoy his hacks

It crashes a lot, it's unusually slow, and it doesn't play 3D video on the 3DS. I think that's pretty strange.

again, it didn't crash for me and the interface isn't slower than anything else on the 3ds. have you ever been to the eshop?
and how many videos on youtube come recorded with stereoscopy anyway? and its not strange they never suppored that, 3d is a gimmic and its work to program the app to display it (in addition to basically losing resolution and requiring even more cpu power while active).
not to say that better coding couldn't have made it a better app, but it worked well enough for everything I needed.

The number of people who can use this exploit is only limited by whether the YT app is available or not. Releasing the exploit before or after it's taken down doesn't affect neither positively nor negatively the reach of the exploit.

Smea may want to wait a few days until more people get their hands on the app, sure, but delaying its launch until the app has been removed doesn't maximize its effectiveness. In fact, releasing it before the app is gone from the eShop may be benefitial, as it may give it more and better publicity by showing a working, tangible exploit.

But, then again, Smea works in mysterious ways. He'll release the exploit whenever he feels it's the time to release it. Everything else is pure speculation on our part.

I tried using Pasta and that eShop spoofer app to get into the eShop, but the eShop asks me to update. This was not the case before. Is this a new AP from Nintendo?

That's not a bad theory. ...so, if there are another 3 exploitable titles on the eshop we may have to wait another 4-5 weeks for the exploit instructions.

PEOPLE IMPORTANT!!!: I have two Old 3ds both with 9.9. I decided to try something. I had ironfall on both at 9.8 but not youtube. I mad ea backup of both SDs. I updated both to 9.9 but with the first 3ds, I took the SD card out before updating and the second one I left it in. Guess what? The one with the SD card in the 3ds gives me an error saying that: 'Game currently unavailable. Please try again later.' when I try to open ironfall. But I used the backup I made earlier and it worked. And Ironfall on the second 3ds with the sd card out before updating works fine.

So people the message is if you need to update your 3DS (if less than 9.9) for downloading youtube and you already have ironfall make an SD card backup and leave your SD card out while updating.

Personally I hope it takes ages to for smea to release. The more people the get to download the required apps the better. The shorter time between revealing the apps and then releasing the hack, the quicker the app gets pulled and a lot less people get to use it. Remember sudokuhax? 200 people world wide were able to use it for homerbrew. For 3ds homebrew to pick up popularity, we need thousands able to use it.
