Hacking Best CFW for O3DS?

I recently acquired a 8.1 3ds
Before, on my 3ds I used palantinecfw i belive?? Anyways it was complete rubbish.
What it currently the best CFW?

Why do you recommend downgrading? With the current state of rxtools you can use mset offline to launch it. Swapping out the mset system settings is much safer than downgrading IMHO. But better yet get to 9.2 and you will have the best of both worlds. With 9.2 having mset there is no reason to go back to 4.x again as since it is reality now it is best to do so.

I have had more people brick trying to setup rxtools on 5.0+ then I ever did having them downgrade first. Plus with 4.x there are multiple boot options as well as multiple ways to install title manager

That is the fault of the 3ds owner then. Reading the rxtools thread and searching and asking for help will guide anyone on the correct path. As long as no one jumps in before knowing the steps there is little risk with rxtools. But 9.2 is where you should be at now as you gain advantages for your sysnand.

the DS exploit is good for me on 4.2
but i wonder if there an offline method for 4.5 and up

Well, as long as you're still within that range, you could instead of downgrading the entire FW, downgrade the MSET to use the MSET exploit, a la ds profile to launch.

You're using gateway MSET as well?

I'm not actually sure if those two can be used in conjunction...

I'd use Cakes Fw. Seems more stable, and it loads quicker. Both cakes and RXtools can use mset on 9.2.

RxTools MSET exploit works with O3DS with downgraded MSET version 4.x or 6.x on firmware 9.2. Don't know about Gateway Mset though

The good thing is, if you already have CIAs installed on your Gateway emuNAND, setting up RxTools will go extremely fast. After you get it installed, you can ditch your Gateway card

Okay.
I backed up my nand, and then downgrading using the latest gateway build.
Then, I formatted the emunand (for use with RxTools)
Then, I got the xkey thing, and installed RxTools.
I updated RxToolsEmunand to 9.9.


Now, How do I figure out what version of FBI to use, and are the sysnand and emunand linked? If so how do I unlink them?
I followed this tutoiral,
It was in spanish so I dont know how to decide the FBI version

I don't think there was multiple versions of FBI, all should work

To unlink nands just do a system reset on system nand with no sd card
