Hacking N3DS Emunand and BBM Problems.

I have a N3DS that is currently on 9.0 and so is the Emunand, I have Gateway and OoT. I would like to update the emunand to 9.5 but 3DNUS isn't working right now. Is there any way to update it with using Majora's Mask or something?

Also when I boot into gateway mode and try and boot BBM or DevMenu, neither of them work. They just boot me back to the home screen and tell me my 3DS needs to be restarted.

3DNUS is working fine for me right now run it as admin (the 1.9 version) and type 9.5.0-22 into title id and USA or EU depending on your region in the version tab then select new 3ds and pack as CIA then click download

run BBM from the Red card then install the CIA version to either Emunand or Sysnand

To update your emunand use this CIA https://github.com/profi200/sysUpdater/releases/download/0.4.1/sysUpdater_0_4_1.zip
and put all the CIA files 3DNUS downloaded (all of them from the 9.5.0-22 folder it created) into a folder called updates on the root of your sd card.

Also make sure to safely eject the msd card when you put all the CIA files and have a nand backup handy

Well, you can use BBM. Updated from 9.0-9.5 w/o a problem.

You can update with a ROM, by holding D-pad Up while booting GW mode update blocking will be disabled.
Puzzle_and_Dragons_Z_plus_Puzzle_and_Dragons_Super_Mario_Bros_Edition_USA_3DS-ABSTRAKT contains the 9.5.0U update.

I read that since I'm using Gateway to boot into Emunand that I cannot use SysUpdater or else it will brick my 3DS, is this true? Also the link you sent me for BBM is the same one I used before and it doesn't work. When I try and load it, it just boots me back to the home menu and then resets my 3DS.

Using Sysupdater in Emunand will not cause a brick as for BBM not working I would start over since you must be doing something wrong OR you have a fake sd card. You should also try formatting for Emunand using gateway 3.3 on a fresh sd card and a system format

I just used 3DNUS to download the 9.5.0-23U update files last night, xfered them to SD and installed them all individually via Title Manager (BBM) to emuNAND. Everything went fine. sysNAND still on 9.0, emuNAND on 9.5 with Theme Shuffling.

I'd also recommend re-creating emuNAND, or possibly investigating your SD card.

Apparently my problem with BBM is just that it wont support MicroSD cards that are 128GB. Seems if I partition it to be under 99GB it will work or if I fill up space to be under 99GB it should work.

One last question, I've been reading about linked and unlinked Nands. I don't really understand what the benefit of linking or unlinking is. I'm sure I can find a guide but I would like some clarification as to the benefits of each.

Honestly I prefer to have them linked since CIA's will share saves between Nand's the only "downside" is having to unwrap CIA's in Sysnand if you enter Emunand

The biggest benefit is removal of the giftwrap bug. Whenever you install a CIA to emuNAND it creates an icon on the desktop for that title, but whenever you reboot the entire system, those icons get "re-wrapped" like they were just installed, making it fairly hard to determine what titles are where on your home screen. There are others, but that right there was enough to make me want to do it.

If you do unlink, make sure you backup your SD card prior to doing it. If you have emuNAND created already, you could remove the SD card prior to formatting sysNAND and you will be good, but a backup is always nice for that just in case moment.

Unlinking them should be as simple as taking the sd card out and formatting Emunand (or was it sysnand) but I would ask someone or do a search since i've never done it.

So I've unlinked my Sysnand and Emunand but I'm not clear on Eshop and playing online. As far as I know I can use eshop and play online as long as I have FreeMultiPatcher. I'm reading mixed reports on doing anything online once you unlink. Is there anything I should be aware of or steps I should take for using online functionality now that I've unlinked.

nope you're all good as long as you can sign into you NNID also the patcher is only needed for eShop
