I thought you said you used power over ethernet? Just use power over ethernet to connect your PC to your Wii U.

I did, but how? You make that sound easier than it should be. My PC is going from the PC to the wall socket with the POE connection on the 2nd floor, while on the 1st floor, the other POE adapter is going from the wall to the router/modem combo box (from Xfinity-Comcast). I'm just so confused right now, because I don't know how that would work when the PC on the 2nd floor is using the POE adapters on both floors to complete the connection to the router. Maybe I'm not making sense? It wounds like I would have to give up my PC's POE connect in order for me to use the Wii U for this. Damn. I wish there was an exploit that doesn't rely on anything network related, but that'll never happen.

Which I set up on OpenDNS, but I get the impression that said method isn't entirely fail proof if your ISP assigns a dynamic IP address. I don't know if my ISP, Comcast uses static or dynamic, so either way, that's not a safe method. My last resort would be to blacklist the IP address in my router, if I can remember the admin password for it, I suppose I can try that method as well. I'm not trying to exacerbate stress or anything, I just have a screwed up set up and weird circumstances. Ah, bollocks

Right, I know that, but this is provided my router has that ability, the last router I used, the one I had with Google Fiber, had no ability to blacklist. I now use a Comcast/Xfinity router-modem combo from Motorolla, I thnk. Not sure if it has blacklisting capabilities...but if i doesn't, I'm flat out effed.

You could make a virtual hotspot via pc and not allow internet access, that would give you a network without internet

Please read my above posts, that's not really easy to set up given that I use POE. I hate WiFi in all it forms as it is not stable.

Gotta be honest, I'm very, very tempted to update to 5.4.0. I don't know why, I really don't, but I feel an insatiable urge, yet, doing so is something I will more than likely regret later, especially as the scene has just begun. I've had a Wii U since 2012 and been waiting for this, and yet....I feel...off? Anticlimactic? I don't know.

Is this the router you have? If so it has url (and MAC and port) blocking.

Yup, that's the one I have, so it does have that? Good, that's a relief, now I just need to access it, need to remember that blasted password lol.

@the_randomizer It doesn't really matter what kind of connection you have if you drag your wii u or pc "a couple meters" to the other one. Laziness isn't really a reason something won't work, that's just you not wanting to do more work to get it up and running. All the answers you're looking for are on the last page. Honestly, if I was in your boat, I wouldn't even bother til everything is out and made simple for end-users, because you do not seem to know what to do at all. That being said, I'm not trying to attack you, but it feels like you're just being a negative Nancy over $10, moving a computer or Wii U temporarily, or learning anything about networking.... I'm pretty certain you were the guy bitching a couple weeks ago too, like this is your project. I'm surprised people still hand feed you. With 14,000+ posts, I'd think you'd have learned a thing or two on these forums.

Any idea in the simplest way possible how to resolve this? I've been told that it was possibly messed up during a failed Homebrew/hacking installation. Just wondering if there is any way of sorting this?

Not at the moment, would need to wipe the vWii NAND and that requires IOSU access if you're not able to actually boot vWii :\

Maybe wait for iosu, but that will take awhile and if you are on 5.4.0 it might take even longer.

If you use a filter in your router that blocks all possible urls and assign it to your Wii U you should be safe. It might be just a

*

symbol but I'm not sure. There might be more straight-forward settings in your router for this. Prevent Internet access? Child security? Also you can verify by visiting random websites on the Wii U's Internet Browser and see how they all fail to work. Your Wii U will be in your local network but not able to access anything on the Internet which is what you want for accessing locally hosted browser exploits but no Wii U updates.

Well, I don't too. So, I didn't test it if it was saved correctly.
I'm gonna take remaking requests from people, do you want me to remake any level from a super mario bros. game? Don't request for super mario bros. 2(doki doki panic remake), I hate it.

Had you or the previous owner performed any modifications to the vWii?

From what I know, it was attempted to be modified at some stage (although I'm not sure what mods/etc). But has since been handed down. I had heard it didn't load Wii games, was hoping I would still be able to get into the menu to add Homebrew Channel, etc.
The screen goes black, the Wiimote doesn't respond, and you actually have to take the plug out in order to turn it off. It does make the same disc-drive sound that you normally hear when booting up a Wii.
