Today, Nintendo announced in the beginning of the Nintendo World Championships that Earthbound Beginnings, a translated version of the previously Japan-only NES game Mother, will be releasing in English on the Wii U Virtual Console tonight at 9 PM EDT. A trailer was also released.

i have followed the mother games for the most part, i'm just waiting for the annoucement that it will be on the 3ds as well. but there is also news of the mega man legacy collection, which forgive me for saying so but i don't think the classics look like they really got graphically enhanced in any way. they look the same as they always have, although 6 games in one for the 3ds is not really a bad deal. it saves a lot of space on the ol sd card ( not updating until i get the n3dsxl) but back on topic the mother games for the most part seemed to be really controversial didn't they?

Either that's a bundle with extra games/accessories included or you live in a place where everything costs more than MSRP.

Pretty sure Mother 3 is gonna be the next candidate but I ain't gonna bet much, Nintendo translated EarthBound Zero but they never released, as far as the Mother 3 translation goes, either they translate it from the scratch and launch it as 3DS VC (doubt it cuz Wii U GBA VC) or they'll rip Tomato's translation and launch it as it is.

Well I definitely won't be getting it on the Wii U unless they add overclocking support, which they won't. I know that when I tried Earthbound Zero it was painful to play without fast forward/overclocking the emulator because everything was so slow..

The funny thing is, spending so much money for a game Nintendo haven't ever planned to release after it was cancelled.
