Most people who buy sky3ds are going to be over 9.2

That's true, my first console was on 9.4, then I got lucky to get 9.0. Dumped a header, but I also have gateway. Finding gateway quite a hassle to get up and running so I am thinking of ditching it for the sky3ds.

If your finding it a hassle to press settings->system settings->ds profile then pressing that button on top of sky3ds is going to be hell

No I am not familiar with that to be honest. What I meant by gateway being a bit of a hassle is dodging updates and having two nands etc. It's not a bad thing, just the sky3ds is literally plug and play which I think suits me more. The only downside I can see is no cia games, but honestly I don't think there are many I would be after.

You don't need to update every time gateway updates. You can be using a version of gateway from 6 months ago and all games would still be working

I mean dodging the firmware updates from nintendo (keeping the wifi off). Personally I feel as if I might sell the 9.0 3ds and gateway and stick with sky just for convenience sake, but i think it really is down to personal preference. Gateway is more advanced, sky is easier to use.

Why do you need to keep wifi off? Just click no if it asks to update...

True. Thing is, I can't see much advantage for me personally to use the gateway over the sky. All I am missing is cia games (which is mostly eshop things).

All Sky does is play .3DS roms. Which isn't a bad thing. It's a little pricey though, but just think about how much you'd spend otherwise and it becomes worth it. However, you need something called a private header to safely get online using Sky but you'll need either a Powersave and a retail game to get one or you can buy it from someone who has a Gateway who can rip one for you (I'd be willing to do this for you.)

Overall, not a bad investment.

I wouldn't risk using public headers. Using privates doesn't make much work but gives security.

I don't think nintendo will patch sky. It emulates a retail card, so even if they do figure out a way it will take a lot longer than just patching some software vulnerability.

Actually a bunch of people have been banned for doing that already.

That's even worse.
People who use public headers (especially the Sky3DS ones, since they're compiled in a nice list for Nintendo to parse) are asking for a ban.
If you're gonna pirate, take the time to do it right

Link? I'm certain the forums would have exploded if there was more than one incident. Not to mention, it was oddly isolated. Heh. I guess that's cuz people got scared and switched to private. I'm not saying that's not what caused it. Just that we really can't say for certain. I, among others, haven't been banned with public headers.
