Ok lol, this is going to be fun. Never heard of PBT or BBM. I'll try this later, 2.30am now, probably not a good time to try this when I'm feeling sleepy. Thanks again all of you ;)

Good night )

Is there a thread here with this topic that the designer uses? I want a small feature to be added that would help out lots of people when I release my emunand transfer / downgrade guide
No thread on this site for the app. profi200 used to be a member here but would frequently get in AP* arguments with other members (he took the unpopular pro AP side). One day, he got fed up with it and asked a mod to ban himself to escape this site permanently. He still refers to us as "GBAfail" from afar. XD (sry for off-topic, just had to tell that story)

Anyway, the info you need is on his github repo:

Is this how to install PBT, I just use the PBT mod, right? TY

  1. Make sure your 3DS is configured to connect to the internet properly before going any further. Write down the LAN IP of your 3ds for later.
  2. Copy the Rop Multiloader to your DS mode flashcart. Launch the Rop Multiloader rom from your cart and select "Gateway 4x"
  3. Copy the Gateway Launcher.dat to your SD card, and load it with the usual exploit. Select "Nand Backup".
  4. When it finishes, copy the nand.bin from your SD card to your computer.
  5. If you have not already done so, boot the Gateway Launcher and select "Format Emunand". Be careful, as this will erase all the files on your SD card.
  6. On your SD card navigate to "sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/<id0>/<id1>/dbs/". Create two files in this folder named title.db and import.db . Put the SD card back in your 3ds and go to System Settings, and attempt to manage the SD software. Let the 3DS do its repair process.
  7. Mount your SD card on your computer. Make a backup of the card with Win32DiskImager.
  8. Open Hex Workshop as administrator. Select Disk-> Open Drive. Choose "All" from the drop down menu and select the disk with the size matching your SD card. Once opened, the very beginning should say "GATEWAYNAND"
  9. Choose Disk->Restore Sectors and select your saved nand.bin. Change "Starting Sector" to be "1".
  10. Now that that is finished, your SD is ready to launch the CFW. Copy the contents of the folder "SD Card" folder to your SD card. **Replace the boot.bin from the one in the guide with the one from PBT**
  11. Launch the "Rop Multiloader" from your DS cart again. This time select "Homebrew 4x".
  12. Finally launch the exploit the usual way, and make sure to hold down the L Button. it may take as many as 10 tries to work, but don't give up. You will know it worked when the screen flashes *BLUE* white then black for a second.
  13. Download "DevMenu_2x.cia" and put it in the "Palantine CFW" folder.
  14. On your computer, in the CFW files, edit run.bat and replace "IPTOMODIFY" with the IP of your 3DS, and then run it by double clicking it. This will try to install the DevMenu onto your device.
  15. Reboot your 3DS and launch the CFW again. If it worked you will see a present on the homescreen.
  16. Congrats! You have installed a CFW to your 3DS!
Once you reboot your 3ds you can now replace the launcher.dat from the PBT with pasta. Once you boot into pasta and have access to the dev menu you can now install BBM or any other cia you want

I would just use nop90's mset pasta.
https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-pasta-cfw-without-cubic-ninja-mset-4-x-old3ds.389498/

Much more reliable booting and it does the same thing as pbt.

Um... How are you going install the dev menu / title manager?

Thanks for that, so it says I need:
  • A 4.5 or lower 3DS with mset already installed using Gateway's Installer file.
Where do I find a reliable Gateway Installer file to install mset.

Thanks zoogie )

I'll try that now. Thanks for the instructions )

Where do I find the Rop Multiloader?

Oh dear, I think this is too complicated for me. Any threads that have all the downloads, because most of these tuts say you need certain things installed etc?

The thing I'm worried about, is searching for ROP Multiloader for eg. and then installing the wrong one and ending up with big problems, just like I had with SysUpdater 0.4b. I need to be extra careful this time round.

Everything is in the guide you posted that I edited for you. Also as I mentioned before I am telling you to install PBT because if you simply boot into pasta you will have no title manager to install cia files thus kind of voiding the point of the CFW. PBT is just used the first time to get a cia installer and then you can boto every time with pasta. The other reason you use PBT also is because in the official guide it says to load FBI threw ninjahax

I understand now, you edited the info from that link. That should be helpful. Thanks )

That allows for the mset ds profile exploit to work

Thanks, is it ok if the 3ds switches off after this or do I need to do that again?

Launch the Rop Multiloader rom from your cart and select "Gateway 4x"

Also can I remove the ds cart after doing that?

Hi, id0, id1 or dbs. I don't see those folders at all.

No worries, I figured this out )

What a strange process, I hope I'm doing everything right :/

Even though I followed the steps I think I must have done something wrong.

Stuck here, screen not turning blue

Finally launch the exploit the usual way, and make sure to hold down the L Button. it may take as many as 10 tries to work, but don't give up. You will know it worked when the screen flashes *BLUE* white then black for a second.

Copy the contents of the folder "SD Card" folder to your SD card.

The folder as well or just the contents.

  • Download "DevMenu_2x.cia" and put it in the "Palantine CFW" folder.

Where is the Palantine CFW folder supposed to be, on computer or sd card?

  • On your computer, in the CFW files, edit run.bat and replace "IPTOMODIFY" with the IP of your 3DS, and then run it by double clicking it. This will try to install the DevMenu onto your device

How will this install DevMenu on my device if I do it on the computer?

So many questions, this is not easy. :

Can't get step 12 to work, anything else I can try?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I give up for today, so agonizing when something doesn't work as expected. :(

I'll try again tomorrow. At least this 3DS hasn't bricked yet like my other 3DS, touch wood xD

I mentioned this in another thread, but wouldn't the simplest answer be to use the Gateway menu to "downgrade" your 3DS to 4.x, in which case (for USA) it will have 4.2.0-9 and be suitable for Ninjhax?
