I only ask because I'm a super noob and I don't think I understand the steps all that clearly...... but any chance the .cia could be uploaded? :) or something like a 3ds ISO type thing being set up?

Already stamped that one out for Version 1.2 which I've been hard at work on :wink: it's also going to introduce new features such as an ability overhaul (many Pokemon get access to their hidden ability and some who has completely useless abilities have been given new ones entirely along with the starters getting improved abilities to make them more unique) I've also done a fair bit of text editing and wild encounter editing for it and a lot of level up movesets have been edited for greater balance and to make more Pokemon usable. Expect it within the next 24hrs unless I find some more work to do on it/new features.

I'm having trouble playing this. As soon as I pick my starter the game freezes with everyone staring at me at the table. Any ideas why this is happening?

I started working on a documentation in a Drayano-style, but I guess I should wait until 1.2 is released then, right? :P

How to create a cia including this mod:

Use the original unmodified rom and create xorpads.

Select these extra options
-Use auto rsf
-Extract ROMFS for changes

-Check auto RSF before start

Then after romfs extracts, manually install the mods and the banner.
Rebuild the romfs.bin and replace the existing stock one.

Continue with the tool and it will rebuild into a working cia :)

Would it be possible for you to be a bit more specific? ELI5?
 
This works with 4.x sysNAND. It is possible to use 9.x with this tool, but I don't know how it operates.

1. Download and extract this tool
2. Copy rom into the for_sd folder and run this in cmd:

python ctrKeyGen.py rom.3ds
3. This will create a new file named ncchinfo.bin. Copy this, the Launcher.dat, and the slot0x25KeyX.bin file to the big sdcard.
4. Start the DS Profile exploit ( assuming you already have it installed ) This will create the xorpads
5. After its done, turn 3ds off and remove the big sdcard and copy the .xorpad files into the root folder of the downloaded tool. ( with the .bat file )
6. with the rom in the same directory as the xorpads, drag the rom file into the .bat file to start the program.
7. Hit these three numbers: 7,8,9. Then hit the s key to start.
8. After it successfully extracts the romfs, it will give you the opportunity to modify the files. This is when you manually install the mods and banner if you wish.
9. Rebuild the romfs.bin and replace the old one.
10. Continue with the tool, it will create a .rsf file and open it in Notepad++. All you have to do is make sure it doesn't have any weird looking characters and close it.
11. It will ask you if the rsf is correct, hit yes if it looked ok, otherwise hit no.
12. Continue and it will generate a installable cia file for you :)
 
[USER]SMOKE[/USER] I have a small problem. When I run the code (I do have python) it says that it can't open file 'crtKeyGen.py': because no such file or directory exists. Is it because the file is in a subfolder of a folder on my desktop? Where should I move the files to so Python can see them?

Edit: Okay, you must move it to your user folder for it to be recognized.

Okay, as long as it points to the folder, gotcha. I'm creating the Xorpads right now. Obviously, we should rename the Gateway's launcher.dat to something else while doing this. I'm creating the Xorpads right now but when I get to this:

The romfs builder will automatically open.

Look for things that literally aren't characters. They'll look like black blocks.
If everything looks normal to you, you should be fine
 
Huh... It says "exheader hash mismatch. Wrong key?"

Maybe I should grab the exheader from the last time I decrypted this with rxTools.
 
I wish I could try this out, unfortunately I don't have a Gateway, Sky3DS, or an exploitable firmware. :^/
 
[USER]SMOKE[/USER] When I use the romFS Builder to create the romfs.bin it gives me a large 5+gig file. Is that correct?

Edit: Man... Am I borderline retarded? Because I can't figure it out even though you wrote it step my step. Maybe I need it explained like I'm 3...

Edit2: Yeah I screwed up somewhere along the way. What a hassle... Things didn't turn out like the guide. After I created the 5.6gig romfs.bin a .rsf file popped up but there was nothing for me to do with it. It didn't have me open it in Notepad++ (but it did when I extracted the romfs). And nothing generated. I feel really stupid but could you go into even more detail? Sorry for the bother.
 
A small bug report: The swimsuit girl's Seaking in route 8 has no moves.
Edit: A trainer's Sudowoodo in Cyllage gym also has no moves :P
Edit 2: Well, I found another moveless pokemon, so i decided to write a list. I'll add when I find another.

Already had them corrected in the 1.2 I'm working on but thanks for letting me know tell me all the ones you find just incase I've still missed one :wink: 1.2 Taking longer than usual as I'm adding one or two really cool features which I'm still working around lol

In the mean time I'm also trying to implement the move changes but this time have been very careful in my changes to avoid the freeze after picking a starter so if someone wants to chip in and test this 2/1/2 updated test garc for me I would appreciate it as my hands are full right now working on 1.2

sillyrabbit221 That was an issue with an old version which isn't a problem in 1.1. Either download 1.1 or wait a bit until I'm finished with 1.2 which should hopefully have move changes AND no freeze.

Edit: Also mg1189 That documentation is looking very nice thank you! If you want we could split the work tell me which documentation you're working on then I will work on another part when I have some free time?

I tested the file, and it froze again when picking a starter. Maybe the moves file gets corrupted while editing? I noticed that the file size is about 10,000 bytes shorter than the original.

Edited 2/1/2: 24,812 bytes

Edit: I just tested it with pk3ds, for some reason after I edited the file and saved the changes, the file size became smaller. This might be a bug in pk3ds then..

Thank you! :) Splitting the work sounds like a good idea. However I have an extra holiday this Monday, so I have plenty of time to work on the documentation, if 1.2 is out by then. :D
 
So, I think I'll be able to figure out how to extract save data from my game,
However, do you think there will be any problem if I use my save data from Pokemon Neo Y 1.1 in Pokemon Neo Y 1.2 ?
 
Am I right to believe that this can be done using just an exploitable firmware, SD card and digital/physical copy of XY (preferably Y)?

From what I've seen so far of the hack it's brilliant! I used to be a huge fan of those Black & white 2 hacks which had buffed trainers, leaders, encounters etc etc.

I wish I could be able to try the hack out, but unfortunately my only copy of pokemon Y is on my new 3ds xl (it's a digital copy) :(

Any hopes of us seeing a Omega Ruby/Sapphire hack in the future?
