Inside Germany, they are very reliable.
I don't know what the hell happens when you cross borders.
Perhaps Fedex would work better in that case?
(But from Germany to the Netherlands... it is next door, more even so from Dortmund, there shouldn't be problems with DHL)

All I can assess is the fact that in this case, DHL effing sucked.

DHL is also a quite decent parcel company in the Netherlands as well. However, I suspect that there is a problem between handing over from the German department to the Dutch department of DHL.

just assuming that the OP was given the tracking details to prove it was posted, DHL are generally ok, once bad...possibly, twice, i suppose it might happen....but three times it was posted and returned? ....doesn't sound right,

Obviously the first thing to do would be to provide a copy of scanned letter from DHL to OP covering what exactly they did, what went wrong, and what they are going to do to remedy the situation. Considering DHL is a reputable company, they will happily provide written evidence (eventually) if asked. Providing the tracking numbers, as AFAIK everything sent by DHL is tracked, is another obvious thing to do.

However, the story that DHL themselves are going to provide a replacement 3DS? That just sounds... unbelievable. They will have a database somewhere where X thing minus some money for the time it was used equals an amount that they will pay into your bank account, if it was insured. Also, if an insurance claim has been made, there will already be paperwork.

Everyone should trust him, I remember him from the Rune Factory 4 post in which he say he will release an undub or the method on how to do it. Then he just went on to ignore everything like it never happened.

Regular, youre getting a tracking-# from DHL and you can track and trace online at dhl.de.

But DHL acts sometimes very strange. I had the issue with a package sent from Amazon Germany. The DHL-Postman was not allowed to hand it over to me because Amazon labeled it wrong. And the DHL IT-System did not allow to overwrite the status.

It would set my mind at ease and make you appear trustworthy. So far you haven't shown me any proof of your claims.

DHL does ship electronics with embedded batteries, but these have to be declared correctly. Shipping batteries on their own are a different matter.

DHL is horrible. Especially recently. In like 20 years I lost maybe 2 packages, this year alone it was 4. Cut the guy some slack, it is a pretty real possibility they lost your stuff.

He sent it (was supposed to send it anyway) to a german address since I live very close to the german border.

Just read through this thread and I'm gonna say Chris seems to be talking out of his ass. If any delivery company loses a package that is insured, they don't give you a replacement, that's not how that works, you're insured for the cost of the item, not the item itself.
