A while back I sent my 3ds to ChrisX930 for unbricking. Of course I knew it was a gamble but it was a risk I was willing to take. It seems that he did indeed fix it because he sent me a video that showed my 3ds working again.

Long story short he supposedly tried to send the 3ds back to two or three times (because dhl sent it back to him) before telling me it got lost in the mail or whatever. Fact is I never saw it back again.

The guy won't respond to my pm's anymore and I want to warn other people who are thinking of letting this guy fix their stuff. DON'T DO IT!

I believe he is a well known member. When shipping anything factor in the insurance next time and don't cheap out. If it has to come out of your pocket than do it. This should common sense nowadays.

That is lame. It would be nice if the world wasn't full of losers who like to rip people off. Sorry for your troubles.

Why did DHL send it back to him? Is that probably because of that new "we don't carry batteries anymore" bullshit? I've been reading about it a lot that courier companies just won't accept ANYTHING that has Lithium Ion or Lithium Polymer batteries in it.

It's just that "they" (don't really know who) have come up with some new rules for shipping gadgets with Lithium Ion batteries, but what's happening is courier companies rather than following the guidelines are OUTRIGHT REFUSING to ship it, which sucks bigtime.

I know a friend in India who bought a N3DS XL from Amazon Canada and was using a package forwarding service called Shop and Ship (Aramex) but what happened was after purchasing and getting it sent to their Canadian address, they OUTRIGHT REFUSED to accept the N3DS XL, and they returned the product. My friend just got lucky where the seller at Amazon Canada accepted the return and refunded him.

It's an absolute shitstorm :glare:

PS: I bought my N3DS XL from Play Asia and got it shipped from Hong Kong to India via Fedex Economy. They shipped my N3DS XL without any problems. Don't know why DHL or Aramex guys won't do it :glare:

Did he get any sort of tracking / insurance on the package? if so he can claim then eventually refund you once the claim goes through (This could take two months going by my experiences here in the UK, carriers make it as hard as possible for you to make a claim i've found)

If not then your sadly out of luck, it's just not worth sending electronics like a 3DS without tracking / insurance.

He told me after they lost it that it was insured and because of that I would get a replacement device or something. But once again... Nothing.

I trust him, I will wait to see if he happens to reply but I think it is no scam. Anyway I will keep this thread on watch, as it also works as a public way for ChrisX930 to explain the situation and dissipate any doubt regarding the subject.

yeah firstly just check if there was any tracking provided, i only really return consoles tracked, but if the user wants to risk it and cheap out on untracked shipping its at their own risk and i wash my hands of it if it doesn't turn up

and in regards to the battery situation if your sending your console off to be repaired and the shipping company is funny about batteries either
A) say it hasn't (although this will probably invalidate any insurance if they found out it has), or
B) see if the person has a spare battery so you can ship it without it, i know i have spare batteries to fit all consoles, so it makes little difference to me

i have had people send their consoles to me non-recorded and i gave them a frank warning saying that if i was a shady guy i could of just said it didn't arrive

uff, what happened here?
Right now, I'm not in Germany (because of School reasons), and can't check anything yet.
The last thing I heard was that DHL Germany lost the package when I sent him his 3DS back and they'll send a replacement for the lost one.
Right now, I'm not able to check if it has arrived to my home.
But I guess it is (or it will) because it has not yet reached its owner.
The only thing is to wait until I got home (which is not possible right now) and let me check it.

Alright, send me a pm so we might discuss how to proceed.

When (if?) this mess gets resolved you will have my apologies. I'm still hopeful that this issue might be fixed but it's been almost 4 month's since you received my 3ds and I haven't heard anything back from you lately.

You said it was insured. Good thing you paid extra for the insurance. That means you can get your money back in the value you insured it for. You/he declared the correct value for it, right?

it is because I can't check anything at the moment. I'm sorry.
Will check what's happened with your 3DS when I'm back in germany.
I think it is already arrived at my home or in the packet-center in my home town.

Wait, so if DHL loses an insured item, they don't just reimburse you for the cost of the item but send you a replacement? How does that work? They send a worker to a local store to pick out another one? Do you even get to choose the color? What if you had the pink hello kitty one? I don't suppose you can request for a worker who is "in-the-know" about firmware versions and all that stuff. Oh, that requires the double-insurance. Damn.

This doesn't excuse you for not responding to PMs, you're a very active member here.

There's no reason this had to be posted publicly, and if you'd kept OP up to date via PM it wouldn't have been.

Or, maybe don't use DHL next time? They don't sound very reliable at all.

Inside Germany, they are very reliable.
I don't know what the hell happens when you cross borders.
Perhaps Fedex would work better in that case?
(But from Germany to the Netherlands... it is next door, more even so from Dortmund, there shouldn't be problems with DHL)
