I decided to backup my emunand using emunand tool to backup my saves and everything. I had read it would backup my saves, so I backed it up. Then I proceeded to do a full system restore. When I went back and restored my emunand using emunand tool. it appears it does nothing to it. I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. I would appreciate it if someone could help me.

full system restore? did you mean format system memory?
if that so, maybe what happened is during formatting system memory, your sd card contents were also being deleted. and restoring from emunand tool will not restore all saves (which stored in sd card)
if you have your sd card backup prior to formatting, you can try to copy them all back to sd card

I did backup all of my files on my sd card before formatting it but, even after placing them back on the sd card, it still won't work.

I'm not certain, but I think that formatting your sysNAND "unlinks" it with your ol sysNAND, hence causing your saves to no longer be compatible.

If you have a NAND backup of your sysNAND before your formatted it, restoring that and restoring your SD contents should hopefully make your saves work again (not sure about this).

edit: to be clear, did you format your sysNAND or your emuNAND?

Well, I had my sysnand and emunand unlinked. Maybe the emunand tool backed up my sysnand instead of my emunand.

If that's the case you might be able to restore your files, I'm terrible at explaining things though.

If you are sure you injected the emunand and you have the content from that emunand on the SD card, check the Nintendo 3DS folder, you should find folders with random letters and numbers (one for each console the SD has been used, in most cases its two, one for Sysnand and other for Emunand). What you have to do is go into the EmuNAND folder (In most cases, it's the folder with the biggest size in it, assuming your Sysnand is empty). If what happened to you is what I think, then you should have two folders inside (with random letters and numbers again), one of them is the one with all your files and saves (hence the biggest of the two), and the other one should be the folder that the Emunand is currently accessing, move all the files inside the folder with your stuff to the other folder.

It might not be what happened to you, but this way I managed to recover a friend's emunand. Good luck.

The problem is when I inject my emunand backup to my sd card, it won't do anything to the 3ds folders as far as I can see. It just stays the same.

And it shouldn't. Injecting an Emunand only modifies the Emunand partition (which is hidden). The console is the one who manages whats inside the Nintendo 3DS folder. What I think it happened is that the Emunand is using another folder to read/write its content, and your files from your backup is not in that folder. (Assuming you made a backup, in other words, have copied the Nintendo 3DS folder from the SD and placed it somewhere in your computer).

If my explanation didn't make much sense I could try helping you through PMs. o:

Well, what I think what happened is, that the emunand tool backed up my sysnand folder instead of my emunand folder since they were unlinked. I just wish the program would let you choose which folder partition to backup. Guess I learned that the hard way.

The EmuNAND Tool doesn't backup any folder, it only backups the nand inside your SD card (which is the emunand.bin you get from it).

I think the emuNAND tool cannot get the sysNAND as the tool can only access the SD card. The sysNAND is inside the 3DS. (The actual NAND chip.)

I think Garro has the correct assumption.

i belive i made this mistake wheni upgraded my sd card all my cia saves were there but i started the games they saved over the old saves so i lost them which is when i started using save data filer
but this should not affect roms thoes saves are on the root of the sd card they end in .sav if you didnt manualy back thoes up they are gone.

when using emunandtool there has to be a emunand already installed on the sd card for the old to be injected. you could try this and see what happens hold l when booting gate way go to format emunand (this will erase every thing on the sd) then try injecting your back up again

what file size is you emu backup.

its kinds hard to help you with out you saying what isent working or why you did this any way?

and if your trying to inject your back up over your old emunand every thing should be the same minus cia saves

I am referring to the folders inside the Nintendo 3DS Folder in the SD card. There is one for sysnand and the other is for emunand. What I think happened is that it created a backup of the folder for the sysnand instead of the one for emunand. I don't have any other explanation for this as when I restore my original emunand back, nothing happens.
