Does it matter if the firmware is 9.5.0-22 or 9.5.0-23? Unless the browser exploits do not work on emunand.

I just updated 3DNUS, so you will be able to choose the 'N3DS"option and it will work ;)

ground, so for the update of a N3DS of 9.2 to 9.5.23, In the new version of 3DNUS, I just have to put 9.5.0-23, EUR, click on New3DS, and install all the .CIA it'll download in Emunand with a .CIA installer?
Thank you for your awesome soft!! :)
EDIT: it worked like a charm. Ground, you're a beast!!

Exactly, just make sure that you use a a compatible cia installer ( big red menu, big blue menu or devmenu 6.2; devmenu 2.x gives errors while installing).

Yes man, it worked. Super easy. Flawless victory for you!!!
You can eat this (virtual but so great) cookie! :grog:

how can i install big blue menu? : N3DS XL Sys:9.2 Emu:9.4 Gateway+Sky3ds
edit:seems like gateway manuel has a part for this :)

It also worked for me, but I had to remove lots of cia's from the folder to make it work.

I have a 9.0.0-20U New3DS and used 3DNUS v1.9 to generate the 9.5.0-23U folder.

Inside the folder I got 105 cia files, but everytime I tried to import them I got "invalid cia".
The problem was that only 34 of those were actually needed to update the emunand to 9.5 (the rest were 9.0.0-20 (stage2) cia's that were already in my 9.0.0 firmware).

I hope I've helped those of you who also got the "invalid cia" errors. You just need to get the list of files for 9.5 and remove the un-needed ones.

Thanks a million ground for your nice app.

i updated 9.4J emu to 9.5 with 3DNUS too but did not get any errors it automatically cancelled cias already exist and installed missed ones so may be a problem with your region?

I just did this 10 minutes ago.

1) Download 3DNUS - https://gbatemp.net/threads/3dnus.376488/ and launch it.
2) For title ID, input "9.5.0-23", for version, it's either "USA", "EUR" or "JPN" depending on your region.
3) Make sure "pack as cia" is selected and press "Download".
4) After everything is finished there should be a folder called "9.5.0-23". Copy that folder to your SD card.
5) Boot to emuNAND, then start BigBlueMenu from the gateway multi-rom menu or just launch it from the home menu if you already have it. Then go to the "9.5.0-23" folder.
6) Select any .cia file and press L+R+A to import all cia files in that folder.
7) Reboot.
8) Check your emuNAND system settings for the version.
9) Yay.

With this method you can't screw up and you don't need any game. Plus you'll be on 9.5.
Note: Do NOT attempt this on the New 3DS, it won't work because it will download the wrong files and will corrupt your emuNAND. You can still download the New 3DS titles seperately, but I'm not quite sure which titles you need right now. 3DNUS will probably get updated with N3DS support later.

//edit: seems 3DNUS supports New3DS now.

thanks was able to format my emunand and get back to 9.5 emunand with this ( hard to reinstall some cias but its not that big of a deal)

I still fail to realize what possible reason people could have to upgrade from 9.0 emunand to 9.5 emunand? It's literally not worth the risk. Why even bother?

Because we can? haha and people like to tinker with stuff :P

Just like i recently (accidentally) broke a nearly new n3ds(small one) when i was going to do the nand mod on it and it slipped, fell about not even 6 inches from my hand into my lap while opening it and the power button ribbon cable snapped. lol

Still works, just doesn't have a proper power button anymore until i can source a replacement cable/button. :)

There's literally no risk with 3DNUS, it's like saying that installing a .cia game is risky.

Mostly because according to some people there are some games (and more probably to come) that have the 9.4 encryption which simply won't boot because you have a lower firmware(even with gateway spoofing), Gateway will probably either crack the encryption eventually or find another solution, but in the meantime, people like to be safe :P

Yeah, I saw the picture :P Otta be careful in the future :)

Hmm....you have a good point. Am glad to know that it's "risk free" now. I've read horror stories here on GBAtemp where people were trying to update their emunand via rom and ended up bricking their 3DS coz they accidentally updated their sysnand. Seriously not worth the risk.

Yeah i was a little pissed at myself to be honest, and a little sad at the same time. :(

You got seriously lucky it's still working. Nonetheless, replace the cable once a replacement is available. I would keep my eyes on dx.com and focalprice. They have some really good spare parts for 3DS/N3DS at really cheap prices :)

Best of luck :)

I'm not sure what the problem was.
The following is the procedure I used to install my GW on the New3DS 9.0.0-20U:

1- Using OOT / GW 3.1.1, I backed up my original nand and copied the contents of the microSD cart to my PC.
2- I then created an emunand on a 64GB microSDXC, which had been formatted to FAT32. F/W on both sysnand and emunand were at 9.0.0-20U at this point.
3- I then noticed that the nice 3D video demo had disappeared from the Homescreen of both nands as a result of the GW creating the emunand on the cart.
4- I proceeded to delete the contents of the cart (IE: the "Nintendo 3DS" folder), and copy back the original folder that had come with the unit. I also copied back the GW 3.1.1 launcher.dat.
This made my emunand exactly like it was on the original nand before I created the emunand (with the 3D demo intact). But the sysnand still had lost the 3D demo. No big deal.
5- I now proceeded to unlink the emunand folder from the sysnand folder:
I did this by turning off the New3DS, removing the GW cart and microSD from the console, booting into the sysnand, formating it, and setting it like it was before, while all this time keeping the microSD card OUT of the unit.
I turned off the unit, put the microSD back into it and turned it back on. It created a folder for the sysnand separate from that of the emunand, just like I wanted.
6- I installed a few cia's, copying the savegames from the cia's on my Old3DS using SaveDataFiler. That worked very well.

So that's basically what I did before I decided to update the emunand to 9.5 :)

confirming this worked for me. my original 3ds came with 6.0 firmware. i installed emunand with the 6.0 firmware, and then downgraded to 4.2. i then installed big blue box and followed darkkaines instructions. i now have 9.5 emunand. thanks everyone!
