So it has been crashing for me and I believe I have everything setup right. Does the structure need to be different then the first post?
EDIT: Just Got it to work. :)

Damn. I tried the NinjaHax Exploit, but I only got it once. Every time after, it just locks up and I have to restart. Not to mention, with my N3DS, dont want to leave the WiFi on trying to run it and getting the Update Nag.

If you have an Android device, you can simply launch it using it, so you don't have to have internet access. However, since Ninjhax is required for this, you'll be out of luck for now, although you shouldn't be having that many issues with it. It works up to 9.2, but you shouldn't have it lock up all the time. Perhaps delete your CN save data and try reinstalling it.

Well here is the problem:
On the Site for it, it says that when you Scan the QR Code, you have the Option of having it Install the Required Files. I did that. But even with that done, would I still have to have the Internet connected? Or is it just Scan the Code, and it should load up?

ninjhax doesn't have SD access, so it has to download the payload instead. It's just an issue of necessity. If you're worried about downloading an update just get it set up the one time and then disable it again, and don't sleep your 3DS.

Actually if the Developer converts to .cia, then the App should have access to more functions. Take for example BlargSnes. The CIA Version has Sound, on both the 3DS and N3DS, and can function with the Sleep Mode and use of the Home Button.
DUE TO LIMITATIONS, YOU WILL NOT GET SOUND WHEN USING EITHER THE GATEWAY VERSION (blargSnes.3ds) OR WHEN USING THE HOMEBREW LAUNCHER ON A NEW 3DS.
Also note that sleep mode (closing your 3DS) and the Home button don't work when using The Homebrew Launcher/Ninjhax homebrew method

.3dsx files will soon have the same amount of access as .cia with projects such as KARL being on the go, using .cia files should be useless once this is achieved.

There is a good Benefit of CIAs though. Can Install directly to the System and would only need GW Exploit, then you are good to go. Would not have to load any other App to finally access the App. At least let others see the difference between the different Formats so they can decide which they prefer.

cia/eshop format makes things seamless with the 3ds system and ui :)
having homebrew in eshop format is a lot neater than .3dsx in my opinion

but, also, i do not want homebrew in my play logs...

Except it can be a big mess too, for example I can't sort my .cia homebrews into folders on my GW emunand and they can't take the place of an existing homebrew that is on my sysnand on the UI, I prefer .3dsx as it's more proper and more independent of the system, even though I'd at least like to have Homebrew Launcher as .cia on my Emunand...

You also spare the battery, which is drained faster with the Red Card inside the 3DS, even if you don't use it (from what I read, at least).

Once you are in EmuNAND, you dont need the Red Card in anymore. Can remove it unless you need it for any other Games, or Homebrew in .3ds Format.

Of course, that's why I was talking about .cia files. If you use the red card for games, you can't really remove it except if you want to insert it again each time you want to play a game, which is pretty boring

Personally, as my brother also use my Gateway (without .cia files so he use the red card to play games/homebrews) and rather than buying another one which was a bit useless, I recycled the 32 GB Micro-SD card of my Sky3DS (gave the Sky3DS to a friend with a 9.5 3DS) in my N3DS and installed all the games I add in my red card as .cia files.

And when I know I want to play, I boot it a bit before and let it in sleep mode (but I avoid to let it in sleep mode for long period, as I saw some peoples who got a black screen on their old 3DS by letting it in sleep mode for a long period. Might never happen with the last versions but who knows).

if I remember correctly though you don't have to 're insert the gateway when booting a cia installed game ? I could be wrong my 3ds has been missing in my stuff since I moved but then again I think you know your stuff pretty well too dav

edit: I just 're read your post and realized you were agreeing and saying u can use cias without a gw card

No. Ocne you Install a Game as a CIA, it is on your 3DS/N3DS SD/MSD Card. No need for the GW Card after entering EmuNAND. COuld run whatever you want without the Red Card since everything is on the Device Card. Can load up Roms from it no problem which is why I say, yes, CIAs are much better. But for those with Sky3DS, then yeah, they need .3DS and .3DSX Files (working with NinjaHax).

Has there been any new developments on this emulator? I'd love to see it running full speed, and now that Karl has released source for arm9 and arm11 it should be possible right? Anyway thanks for all your work bud, always grateful for scene releases.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
