Alpha Sapphire comes bundled with a 7.1/7.2ish firmware. I forget exactly. Just note you need to manually install the game patches via CIAs as you won't be able to update the game via the eShop if you intend to use the game online.

DS Cart White List and TWL_FIRM were not updated in this update. So I highly doubt this update blocks any DS flashcarts. Nintendo stopped blocking DS flashcarts for quite awhile now. I think 7.0 was the last time they released an update to DS Cart White list and TWL hasn't been updated since 6.x. Nintendo doesn't really care about the DS flashcarts anymore.

No. They're trying to block 3DS ROM dumps. Not DS.

I have DSTwo and works fine on 9.5. They really don't care about DSTwo at this point.

No unfortunately. Unless you have an older backup that was still linked you might be able to find and selectively avoid overwriting the extdata/sysdate save game for the NNID module. Best look that stuff up on 3DBrew if that's the case.

Otherwise your only other way of getting eshop is to flash that 9.6 emunand to sysnand and say goodbye to your gateway.

Which reminds me. You can get your n3DS nandmodded by someone here. It will probably cost you around 40 or so bucks depending on who you go to. But then after that you can just flash your 9.6 emunand to sysnand and have something to play with while you wait for Gateway to add support for 9.6 emunand (which could be a long time from now). (of coarse make sure you have a backup of sysnand before you overwrite it with a 9.6 dump. Or you are really going to be ***ked. )

Times when you might need Gateway are when you can backup your current 9.6 sysnand and flash back a 9.2 or less sysnand via the nand mod.

So there are perks to having a nand mod.

I like the idea of having a it nandmodded, just as a backup.. I don't REALLY care too much about my 9.6 emunand data at this point, just a lot of streetpass stuff and i keep having to redo my friends list.. but honestly its only been weeks worth of shit, not months.. i successfully got my emunand back up to 9.5.0-23U, gonna try to install the 9.6 package list that was confirmed, maybe i should just wait for your complete list ..

currently backing up my 9.6 nand, in case gateway is quick to come back with an update.. didn't realize how it easy it was to backup and inject the emunand.. like i said this was a tough learning process, but i actually learned way more than i could have ever looked up on my own in the last 2hours.. thanks again for your help

Tested and confirmed that, my R4i Gold 3DS(r4ids.cn) was not blocked by this update.

No it's a regular r4i gold 3DS/RTS card, have tried it again, it works on 3DS console V9.6.0-24!! Sorry my mistake.

lol my rxnand bricked, it just my curiosity and lmao legit pekemen hype so yeah its stuck on the edge of update bar and getting error then kick back to sysnand then got blackscreen when booting rxnand i guess ill stick around with palatineCFW and having fun with miku (shes so cute tho) well i guess you guys flashcart users (GW) still can update via CIA right? with that beauty flame red card. so yeah thats it lol. i already know my emunand will bricked from our fellow member gbatemp report this on rxtools thread. now then i guess rxtools ntr or karl and oska should add cia instaler features for the sake of homebrew development and ofcourse peenie lol P. so yeah thats it, i just share whats on my mind like facebrick well....uh....i think yea thats it.

Download a program called 3DNUS or UpdateCDN. Which ever one suits your fancy for the job. I believe typing 9.5.0-23 in the title info field and putting USA in the version field will have it download all the CIAs needed for a 9.5 update. Same applies to UpdateCDN.

Tried this on my Japanese n3ds emunand on 9.4 (it was previously on 9.5 but a mishap with custom theming blackscreened it and I stupidly didn't do a backup) and after installing the downloaded 9.5 cias, I get a blackscreen upon launching gw mode. =/

isn't there a CIA you can install to make any old DS flashcard run on any emunand?

ok but what is time warp?
i know obviously that you cant install anything on 9.2+
and that using TWL_FIRM breaks the exploit and will kick you out of emunand
