I get what you're saying, I just don't think it's that important (relatively) at this point in time. Custom OSes/loaders are the main priority so we have a long-lasting solution for homebrew. Once that's solved we can worry about stuff like unbricking vWii for the fools who try to do stupid stuff :P

So getting back on topic, first of all, good job and thanks to all involved, max respect! Second, (I can't remember seeing this) would this allow us to make homebrew that can really use the gamepad's features? I.E. Touchscreen interface, motion controls, NFC etc. Or is that something else entirely?

That was possible with the Webkit exploit, but nobody has tried to utilize it besides Relys. Hopefully once a proper homebrew launcher is made we can start working on all that.
EDIT: this should also allow for stuff like NFC which wasn't possible while you were stuck in the browser, since it doesn't have every permission. Now we can switch between apps to get all features.

Naisu, I'll check that out, but if you ask me, one of the great things when it comes to new brew on new hardware is what that hardware can do. The gamepad could really be used for some neat things, and once this is all figured out, I'd mosdef love to see some pretty creative ideas.

it would be fun going from the wiiu side and enabling gamepad buttons as a classic controller on vwii like nintendo said they would do when a game they release has CC compat but that has yet to be seen.

Agreed, though I heard you'd need to write an IOS to do something like that.

If I hadn't updated my Wii U the day before I discovered this community :P , I would have made many homebrew games with the original exploit by now.

Thought I should give an example. The graphics API is really fleshed out, but it takes a lot of documentation to detail it all.

Where is this picture from?? WiiUBrew?

From one of the leaked SDKs (shhhhhh :P)
Basically we've been using the documentation from SDKs to cheat since the beginning, that's why making a homebrew SDK is important because then we don't need to rely on this.

Just got ahold of the latest docs, apparently they now have an NFP library(Nintendo Figurine Platform) along with NTAG. The format they use for them is called "NOFT", and it even tells you the basic format. Of course, it is encrypted, but it'd probably be really easy to find the keys.
NOFT supports a mechanism that uses HMAC to prevent tampering. If the content of the tag has been illegally rewritten, it is treated as a tag with an invalid format. Also, the content of the tag is encrypted, so it is necessary to decrypt it when reading the content and to encrypt it when writing content. The decryption when reading and encryption when writing are handled within the NTAG library, so it is not necessary for applications to be aware of it. Processing for format conversions is also handled within the library.

Also, apparently in the filesystem, there's
User generated contents Forthcoming

Here's the layout for optical discs, along with size limits, if it weren't clear enough:

That's all the really useful tidbits at this point in time.

So, we scratch the System partition, and no force update?

Wow, that's REALLY big news! Quick question:is the NTAG library currently obtainable/writable??

That all does seem useful... Wonder if the hard drive for Wii U format could have similar documentation?
