2ds is very picky with card readers and cable length, but it does work

I was just about to ask about this, mmm.

Edit: Have you any information on the cable length/other nit-picks? I think I may attempt to modify my 2DS before I purchase an N3DS and/or hard-mod it.

make the cables as short as possible, and the only card reader i could get it to detect with was a transcend multi card reader, as read in the thread the other person who did it also only had success with a transcend card ( that's actually why i ended up getting that reader)

Hmm well it's not that it's picky picky really but certain card readers just have better controllers in them or possibly better firmware. Also the shorter the lines the less likely you are going to get get cross-talk, added impedance/resistance and possible noise from the wireless signals around you.

Alright so my NAND "mod" if you will is done, and it's ugly but functional, last thing I have to do is print out my label for the pins

A TekRepublic TUC-300 and a Transcend TS-RDP5K

Yes I have used both many times for the 3DS and to read from the N3DS I will be performing writes once i finish this all up, it's taking much longer then expected but, that's life

Using just DAT0 / CMD / CLK and GND i was able to get around 5.5 MB/s on a trancend usb 2.0 card reader. Using all of the DAT lines i averaged around 11 MB/s on the same reader. Using a USB 3.0 TekRepublic Reader I was still hitting around 8MB/s with just one line and 21MB/s using all the DAT lines.

OK. Thank you. About the same as the original and XL version of the old 3DS. I think I'll stick with 4 pin as they are smaller and easier to keep looking nice.

No lol you're right, thank you. I think i've been at this for too long! almost a day and a half now.
I had my N3DS for 5 mins then I decided to take the whole thing about apart and stare at the shiny insides. I'm updating that photo and label.

Now I can stop worrying about this and eat my ice cream

I updated it to 9.5


Then wrote my old 9.0 image to it and it booted up and worked just fine
