I think that's because no one is playing online atm.

I'm glad I looked this up before I went online with my N3DS with smash bros backup = /

Still trying to figure out how to get private headers and all that stuff to work online without too much fear.

I have one year warranty through gamestop as well, so if anything happens I can just swap it out.
I'm still playing. Nothing to report yet.

Reminds me of when I got my first Jtaged Xbox 360, so many bans. Only difference is you could actually unban yourself, with this, there's no known way just yet

hmm yeah all people who got banned reported having played Pokemon online, but could it really be that it's just pokemon that is causing those problems? Kinda weird.

Ah you mean for people not currently banned I see. Makes a bit more sense to care now lol

hey shamzie, just a question to you, don´t know if it has been asked so far, too many pages to read through...

1. Did you ever installed savedatafiler, or used playcoin setter, or installed the dev menu, or anything like that ?
2. Did you use one of the above mentioned software as last software and then went to "homepass" where your last played software was shown as one of those ? Because i see a lot of careless people on homepass that they have savadatafiler or dev menu or playcoinsetter as last played software ! because of the low number of reported bans, i can only guess it has nothing to do with public headers, would have been totally more reports then i would assume...

BUT if there are people that are getting on nintendos servers through homepass with last palyed software that you can´t even have played on a legit unmodified console, then it would be more than obvious for nintendo to spot these peoples consoles for banning them. I think rellay that could be the reason for banning, not a pokemon game or public headers...
As i said, i don´t know if it has been asked for already, but would be very good to know

thanks for your answer, have a nice weekend all of you

That makes sense and for Nintendo it would be really easy to check.

I've met a lot of people through HomePass with PlayCoinSetter or savedatafiler as last played software.
Even a Mii named "Gateway3DS". I mean, come on, that's just asking for a ban.

Yes thats exactly my thoughts, i think it could really be just this situation that they use homepass, so basically nintendos servers with developer software being shown !
I guess they can take it that people pirate, because there was absolutely no ban for pirating on wii for example, but they will not take it that there is publicly shown through nintendozone that there is pirace/dev software beeing shown !
I guess we have to wait for shamzie or any other to clear things up if they might just have homepassed with dev software shown or anything like that...
i really hope they will answer, this could end (speculation mode on) the nervousity for people afraid of being banned, and take precautions before they do homepass ;)

bear in mind the majority of bans seem to be sky3ds users, so that kinda rules out all the devmenu/playcoinsetter etc as the cause (or at least the main cause, thats not to say that the gateway users who where banned couldn't be banned for a different reason) basically shared headers would be the most obvious shared flaw with both cards that is more prevalent with sky3ds users

In that case the way to go is disable Internet connectivity every time you run playcoin SaveDataFiler or anything like that. Since the console is always reporting the running software. Regardless of using home pass.

Actually, the console keeps a detailed record of every piece of software ran on it, regardless of connectivity.
Best we can do, run something legit before going online again, just in case. At least you wouldn't show it to every Mii Plaza user.
But as things are now, Nintendo can see pretty much whatever they feel like.

Considering the relatively small amount of users who reported a ban to this day, I'm starting to think it might just be a plain case of "online cheating" ban.
