Interesting. So downgrading any 3DS/3DS XL should be possible with the new firmware release even with the console being on 4.5+? Sweet! Now I could hit my 9.2 Zelda 3DS XL down to 4.5 along with the Zelda 3DS.

i only ask because i dont have gateway but if i want to restore i dont want to have to hard mod.

Yes, you can visit go.gateway-3ds while in 4.X and it will load the Gateway loader

Guys i was thinking. Since i have only one gateway card and 2 3ds's (mine on 4.5, my sister's one on 9.2), can boot gateway mode without emunand on the 9.2 one, install games as cia and then play them without entering gateway mode anymore?

Nope, you need to be in Gateway mode for unsigned .cia installs to load.

You can remove the red card from the game card slot after you boot into gateway mode.
By doing this, both of you can play simultaneously.

Jup.
Some reported issues with 2DS systems, though. But others report pretty much everything being fine. So if there are issues with 2DSs, they will surely be fixed with later GW updates

so you need to have a 4.5 nand.bin backup (from your 3ds) before downgrade I assume?

If you have your original 4.5 Nand backup just restore that one.

If you dont have one, you can use the provided .DG files from GateWay to downgrade.

GW downgrade will look for a NAND.BIN on your internal SD before allowing a downgrade.

Always backup NAND before and after the downgrade.

Nobody needs to be desperate when defending Gateway. They have the best feature list of any flash cart by far at this point. N3DS users are free to pick up a Sky3DS if they're really that impatient, just don't come crying back after it gets blocked by a Nintendo firmware update and there's no emuNAND to fall back on.
