Plus to be honest comparing the 3ds to gc is apples to oranges. Sure they have similar specs but optimization and what they do are different.

Have to take into consideration the crappy 240p screen of the 3DS makes everything super ugly and jaggy, too.

Yeah, maybe in the far, far, far future, after citra has good enough optimization and can emulate most games pretty well, there will be a version that supports just a little bit of upresing that makes things a bit less jaggy. But again, thats a pretty long way away, but the devs have done a great job so far and I cant wait to see more of it!

Simple it gives the people of gba temp more to argue about.

You guys are missing what I was saying. Someone mentioned that the 3DS's graphics look inferior to the GC's, and the person I quoted said that the 2 serve different purposes.
I was simply stating that the reason that games on the 3DS look like crap is that the 240p screen causes games to render really ugly images onto it. I said nothing about more gfx= more fun.

I agree 100 percent i was just being sarcastic. Really the 240p screen is kinda inexcusable considering they could easily make a better screen for the price

But why does it matter if the games look like crap?
I still don't care, even if the graphics are a pixellated mess as long as the game is still playable I don't care. Also the 3ds looks about the same as the GC, IMO.

Now there have been audio only games, there have been text based games, there most likely has been proof of concept touch and smell based games. However few would argue modern and most not so modern games are not a graphics driven concept. Now a good game can make up for lesser artwork but it is still pretty key to have workable artwork, if it looks like crap then the game will suffer, conventional video observed something similar with audio (it is where a lot of youtube types fall down).

Alternatively, quoted because that just needed to be quoted.

Good lord nobody cares if the 3DS isn't running at your beloved 1080p or 4k resolution. It's a portable console with a small screen! It doesn't need a high resolution and it doesn't need 3D.

I like that one comment about this technically being a 2DS emulator though. Ha. :P I'm sure someone will eventually try to make it so 3D monitors can use the 3D function. I don't see that happening within the next five years, but whatever. Progress!

3d monitors? Aren't those extinct? And silly?

Oculus was pretty much born to run this. Floating 3d screen in space for true-to-hardware emulation and distortion+camera hacks for just straightforward vr. Normal monitor for normal/upscaled resolution. All modern emulators from here on out should add head mounted display support at some point imo.

I hear something about a copyright problem problem that prevents this from happening though? /:

If it's going to be accurate, it needs 3D support. That is the point of emulation generally: preservation and accuracy. Not for someone to play pokemans (though many do enjoy emulators for games).

I hope higher native res is supported. The 3DS resolution is absurdly small and many games are too jaggy for my eyes.

Emulators are never supposed to completely emulate the full experience. They can only do so much. If you want the full experience, you are expected to just buy the console.

I'm using XL and the 3DS only looks "jagged" in screenshots. Or are you referring to the screen pixels? You shouldn't be holding the 3DS so close to your face. If you use the 3D and space the device away from your face to see said 3D, you actually get the proper distance to use the device.

For computers, proper ergonomics has you sit with the screen, Center yourself in front of the computer and extend your arm to touch the screen. Keep one arm relaxed on a arm rest and on the same level as the keyboard and mouse. Your extended arm should be touching the middle of the screen. Your arm should not bend it must be straight. (If you're on laptop, can't help ya since laptops encourage poor positions) At this position, your monitor can be properly viewed and things won't seem as pixelated.

There is also filters that emulators could employ in the future. Some antialiasing and whatnot similar to PPSSPP emulator that can enhance the graphics.

Well developed emulators do that and more, just look at Dolphin's emulated wiimote. Consoles are locked down, emulators give you options.

Does anyone know if the latest emucr build can do this?
They can't.

Please also keep in mind that emucr makes money off doing nothing but running other people's work through visual studio and uploading the result to a terribly designed web page crowded with ads. Using their builds actively encourages that behavior, and sort of makes me wish our emulator wasn't open-source to begin with - if it weren't for the upper sides of providing source code.

I'm aware that people want to tinker around with our new stuff - but for God's sake, it's really not /that/ hard to install Visual Studio yourself and follow our build instructions on the GitHub wiki. I don't even mind too much if you guys publish your builds after doing so, as long as you follow the license terms and don't start trying to make money off our work (which, even though permitted by our license, is at least morally condemnable).

And before anyone asks - no, providing builds ourselves is not a solution. I'd rather get stuff done than having to deal with the flood of user support requests which would ultimately come up, regardless of how many disclaimers we put alongside the builds.
