Hello folks,
since I had to change my Micro SD, I lost all my data on my Sky3DS SD card. Yet before, I made a backup of my games and the saves. The games itself work like a charm but my backup seems to be corruped. My SSB savegame works, but my Pokemon ORAS savegame is corruped. Restored the save several times, but it still does not work.
After this, I started a new game. played tillthe third badge and wanted to play some other games. Wrote them onto the card and boom, my ORAS save is corrupted again. What shall I do? Is there a way to restore my old save?
Information : Diskwriter V1.05, ORAS Region : EUR, Blue Button Sky3DS

Did you burn it as EEPROM=no? ORAS is probably a CARD2 game (since X/Y was), so that means it would save to the rom itself rather than a seperate file.

Have you tried using the writer to backup the game instead?

Well, formatted my card once again, put the save file into another folder since it loads itself once you restore your games but yet, save is corrupted. I found out that the saves seem to be included in the game backup, because Ness is still unlocked.

I just backed up and restored (after formatting) AC:NL, so it does seem possible to back up and reburn CARD2 games using nothing but the rom itself.

Actually, it just occured to me: What writer are you using? I guess I forgot to ask earlier. In general, it seems like the original writer works best for CARD2 games. I tried AC:NL a few days ago with a newer writer, but the save was corrupting even when I just used the Home button to go back to the menu, closed the game out, and reopened it. The only way to prevent corruption was to use the original writer. Come to think about it, that may have beeen relevent information.

I'm using the DiskWriter V1.05. This is quite weird, since my original save USED TO load pretty fine. No corruption at all. I would be okay if I had to restart, but why should I restart if my save might corrupts again when I want to load it tomorrow?

I'm not sure I really understood what you were asking there, but just for future reference, the original writer seems to have fewer issues with EEPROM=no games, and the newer writers have more features and bug fixes.

Thanks, but I will just try to start over one more time. I put a few more games on it the last time my savegame corrupted, so maybe that was the reason.

The savedata has been loading perfectly for me when switching game/ changing card or writing to the same arrangement on DiskWriter but when deleting the game and replacing by another the one then restoring the save will cause corrupted to the savedata... Idk how to deal with it... maybe, I should finish the game before trying others ...

Did you try to back up the entire rom instead of the save?

The Pokemon games are CARD2 format, so they are saved to the rom instead of the EEPROM save portion. Restoring the 'save' to a blank rom will likely only corrupt whatever save is already there, but backing up and restoring the rom without it should work.

I did try to backup a whole game but still corrupted when removing the game from SD. It'll load perfectly as long as it's in the SD.

Did you try to restore the save to it when you restored the rom, or have it in the same folder?

Not just the CARD2, CARD1 is in the same situation, delete games from SD then Write them back, restore the save will be corrupted itself. But as long as it's in SD, the savedata will load perfectly.

I did try all cases but savedate keeps corrupting.

I meant that restoring the save to it, or even having it in the same folder (I'm not sure if it automatically restores) may cause it to corrupt.

Have you tried backing it up WITHOUT the save portion, even in the same folder?
