Okay, here is a question:
Now that DownloadMii has one competitor that actually have a (buggy) but working release should I continue with DMII or just "Let It Go"?
I mean, they are two I am one. They are way more skilled than me. They already have a working backend?

you tell me, because I don't feel like "wasting" more time if its useless anyways.

thanks.

combine projects or ask them for help and help them in return.

definitely combine your work. Having two projects is meaningless, but you shouldn't throw away the work you've already done.

It's unfortunate that they didn't try to work with you from the beginning, but there's no sense in dwelling on what could have been instead of what could be.

It is what it is, there is no point In dueling with them. I will continue this project as I learn a lot from it, and you(the users) can decide what software you want to use :)

Puh, I have been working hard on polishing the last bits and here is the current features:
  • Multiple app lists[1] (ie, Overview, top downloads(apps/games), by developer, staff picks, etc)
  • Multiple scenes[2] (ie, Home screen, app description(80%), etc)
  • App installation
  • Input (Including touch)
  • Banner images(70%, still have a bit of work, expect it to be ready for 1.1.0.0)
  • WITH ALOT MORE IN FRONT OF AND BEHIND THE SCENE!

Here is what is left to do before release:
  • Uninstall applications
  • Update application
  • Automatic DownloadMii updating
  • Check if application is installed
  • Fixing some bugs
  • The server API[3]

Basically, there is almost *nothing* left to do for a basic release!

[1]Can also be called "Categories"
[2]Scenes = virtual screens
[3]Cannot do the API by myself

I am eagerly awaiting your release.

I hope it's more filled out than the other guys. There's hardly anything in their catalog compared to what's on GBATemp.

Yeah. I used their app and only like, 6 things were up on their, only being major projects. Hell, 2 catagories out of the 5 had literally nothing in it. I hope this one is a lot better, and updates with each new homebrew app instead of leaving it be like the others.

Damn! I'm really looking forward to this :)

So if Gateway releases the update for 9.2.X, will I be able to install DownloadMii on my 3DS then and be able to do everything it offers?
Will I actually be able to install it at all, or do I need the DevMenu for it?

If you get Cubic Ninja for your GW then yes, you will be able to "enjoy" DownloadMii. :)

So I have no idea how your app actually runs since I'm not a dev, but I was wondering..

Are you going to implement a way to delete packages from the SD Card? Also, how about a way to execute from DownloadMii, so that I can use it to replace HBL? Obv there would need to be an "already installed" filter. Finally, Will DownloadMii be able to update itself? I imagine that it's not so simple to update an app while it's running, but perhaps an "update on exit" would be a quick fix.

On the update part, yes it will :)
The rest will/can possibly be added in a future version :)

I just want to put this out here, in the first release so will the app not include a way to select category NOR search for apps. The first issue will be fixed in a patch close to release, however I have chosen to focus on more important things before category selection (you will still be able to switch between "Overview", "Top Downloaded Apps", "Top Downloaded Games" and "Staff Picks")

Thanks for your understanding :)

PHP DEVELOPERS LOOK HERE!
DownloadMii 1.0.0.0 is now about 95% done and will be ready to launch asap, however we don't have a working backend yet, so if you have time and want to help please visit the website repo. THANKS! :D

The William341 is able to make a stable backend. Ask him to see if you can get it working if you haven't already. :)
