You need an adapter to plug your GameCube controller into your Wii U. Now, there are a few different adapters out there each with their own advantages and disadvantages.

There's one that plugs into your Wiimote and allows the GameCube controller to be used as a Classic Controller, so it has great compatibility with games, but you won't have analog input for L/R and you'll be missing the left bumper that some games use from the Classic Controller.

There's the official adapter which the GameCube controller works perfectly with, but the only official title that supports it is SSB4. There's a library for it for homebrew, but the homebrew has to be compiled with it.

There's a few others out there, just Google around and buy the one you like.

It depends what kind of GameCube controller it is.

Is it actually a wired GameCube controller that you can use on the NGC/Wii and Wii U GameCube adapter or a GameCube-themed controller that connects to the Wiimote? There's a difference and the OP didn't clarify (Well, he did with the "connect to the Wii remote").

That latter are just GameCube styled Classic Controllers, they're not GameCube controllers. Granted, I don't think the OP's native language is English.

The first adapter I was talking about: http://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Nintendo-GameCube-Controller-Adapter-Wii/dp/B00BS520SG

The official adapter: http://www.amazon.com/Super-Smash-G...Q1FI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419731673&sr=8-1
If you go with the second one, I'd recommend waiting until the price goes back down after Nintendo sends out a few more shipments.

If the GameCube controller you have is recognised as a Classic Controller then it's either Hori or PDP and not a real GameCube controller.
I think he was referring to the adapter I mentioned, though I could be wrong.

The OP is likely to be French as he is from Canada but yeah you're right, as far as adapters go it's either the Nintendo GameCube Wii U adapter or the Mayflash GameCube adapter though it's still confusing what he meant by not working.

Keep in mind there are sellers on eBay who sell modded GameCube controllers. That is to say, official GameCube controllers, but converted internally to be a Classic Controller and the plug at the end of the cord connects to the Wiimote. Maybe the OP has one like that?
