That's possibly the word thing they could do. Imagine giving a release date and them missing it? All the temp noobs on here who have just jumped on the 9.2 bandwagon are already threatening to spam bot email them because they havn't said anything for a few days, at Christmas time. Like their lives revolve around working on gateway. It's kinda ridiculous the reaction of certain users in here. The reason you bought a GateWay is because it's the best card with the most features and actually a proven track record of support. But all I'm reading is, give it us or ill spam bot you and buy a sky 3ds. WTF lol .. Anyway it would be 100x worse if they actually give a date, and for whatever reason missed it. I'm sure they know what they're doing ...View attachment 13203
I only like your post because you put up triple H :P

Nobody said anything about any release dates, even when asked they kindly responded that they cant give a release date and not hold up to it since it would be very immature of them.

This isn't entirely true, for the simple fact that they announced it for "soon", many times, too many times actually. A release date doesn't have to be specifically a day, it can be a period of time as well. They didn't just make a POC video and that's it, they announced it with a promise.
You people should also stop playing with that word by pretending it means everything and nothing; soon means soon. If people don't get it in what the most common sense consider soon, then they are right to complain and ask for clarification.
As a matter of fact, they never answered when people asked them what "soon" meant. When you know it's a matter of months, you can easily tell people it won't be released next week. See what I mean? That's a lack of communication, an intentional one.

Again, that kind of behavior would never be accepted in a professional environnment, your boss would never accept "soon" as an answer, but he would surely accept "a few days".

I am responsible for buying it early, I am responsible for pre-ordering a broken Age of Empires 2 on Steam, I am responsible for giving money to Stomping Land on Kickstarter and not getting updates for month. Does it mean I'm in no right to complain? Hell no.

Exactly, people did this with their own two hands and they shouldnt blame others for their mistake. Nobody was forcing anyone on buying it. The term soon is relative, 5 minutes for me could be 10 for you depending on how you look at it. Just a quick pro tip, in life take everything with a dose of scepticism. Helps a lot!

It also helps a lot to complain to get what you want, served me well in the past :)

so we're blaming them for not helping spoiled kids to pirate nintendo games fast enough?
Kinda sad an intelligent discussion gets trolled by that. We're not talking of Sky3DS, made exclusively for piracy.

I consider having region-unlock is the best feature.. Sky doesn't do that but if they did, i'd probably buy their card until Gateways comes out with the update but since Sky doesn't have that feature theres no point in buying it

I'm here to prove to everyone that sky3ds is better and that gateway will never actually release this update
they'll release it, like they always do. Sky3DS just took the lead for now but most gateway users won't admit it. I can understand that they wouldn't buy a sky3ds + a gateway thou.
and people claiming that gateway does more than piracy should show me statistics about "why we bought a 4.5 and gateway"
i'll admit that 1% want it for region lock.

They have very good communication skills and they(...)
If with "good communications skills" you mean the same comm skills a politician has, then yes.
"Soon", "around the corner" and "not month's" are very ambiguous words and expresions, anyone can interpret them as they wish or think or even hope. (Our Hope = Their bussines advantage)

I think that, in bussines terms, is more wise to express a period of time (like, "from december to january, included"), thinking about a really factible release date, depending on workers skills, test and developing eviroment, and adding a small period for posible incidentals (maybe 1-2 weeks more). Much more having they already released a video of 9.2 working!!
If for some remotely causes, they didn't release at that period of time ending, they can allways apologize to us customers, giving semi-tecnics (non secret revealing) reasons about the delay.

If the product is already done, why don't they give a release date period?
Yeah, I know, lower fw compatibility. I think that the CAN release 9.0-9.2 compat, and then upgrade to 7.0-9.2 compat. Waiting for more compat support before release is a bussiness strategy (more posible users = more money) to get the money all together (7.0-9.0 money and 9.0-9.2 money on one selling boom... cos you know like me that it's going to be a GW selling/buying BIIIGG BOOOOOOOM!!!)
And yeah, I know too: 9.4 EmuNand. But that is already released, and I see more fair releasing actual product users updates, than new users udpates. I was and I'm agree with that.

I think GW's aim is to have full compatibility from 4.x - 9.2 for their next release. This will open them up to start working from 9.2 to future firmware releases by Nintendo. Get all of the work out of the way now rather than support new users first, then deal with support issues. It's easier for them to take care of the backlog earlier than later. That's just my opinion though.

Going more off this point, it makes sense to me now why they stuck it out with 4.0-4.5 for so long. They used that platform to build a very solid product with emuNAND, multi-ROM support, devMenu, ROM backup, etc. rather than building support for later firmwares. Now that they do have a very solid product, they can start supporting later firmwares with ease rather than burdening themselves with firmware support for all of their different features. Their strategy is actually pretty thought out if this was their true aim all along.

Muu.......now you're making this wait even worse. *pouts*
I want to get the update......well, I'll worry about that another time. ^_^
Meanwhile, time to worry about whether my 3DS will take longer tan a day to clear customs

Thats what I was thinking but nooo, baby wants the lollipop.
Ok, using that lollipop, I will show you what I think GW did.

9.0-9.2 Baby: gugu gaga, I want 9.0-9.2 lollipop!
Gateway: Ey! Kids! I'm going to give you a 9.0-9.2 swettie!!
9.0-9.2 Baby: yaaayyy!!
Gateway: Ey! Kids! Look at this!! *shows a suculent lollipop*! This is for you! You want it? Well, sorry, but it's not well packaged yet. I will give it to you SOON!
9.0-9.2 Baby: Ew? Ok, I will wait if you say SOON and you already showed it to me, and you will not take long, I suposse.
GW: Ey! 4.5 kids! New jimmies released, so I'm adding them to the lollipop you already had.
4.5 Babies: Thank you so much!
9.0-9.2 Baby: Ug... Ok. It's fair to mantain babies that already had lollipop happier! But what about me?
GW: Ey, Kids! I was thinking... I want to make the new lollipop also eatable for 7.0-9.0 babies, for increase my proffit. Sorry MORE WAITING FOR 9.0-9.2 Babies.
9.0-9.2: But... but... You already showed it to me, and you.... WAAAAAAAAAA!!! (cries)

(Mods, this could look of-topic, but it's not only complaining about waiting, I wanted to do a "GW bussines strategy" with a bit of dramatism)

I know that it's more technicaly easy for them to make development of 4.5-9.2 now, and then polish ALL firm support together, than release 9.0-9.2, and then 7.0-9-0, and then 4.5-7.0... separately. But the fact is that """they promised""" us 9.0-9.2 support, and then suddenly added 7.0-9.0 to the promise.

Well, when you look into the context of some the N3DS having FW 8.1 and that there's currently not a known way to up to 9.0-9.2, it seems a little reasonable.....but then again, it's kinda redundant, much like adding 5 months worth of seasonings/flavorings to a bundle of wagyu beef that is going bad the next day and must be cooked on that day.

Guys, guys, guys, I know what's happening.
The Gateway team has taken the rest of December off due to holidays. We'll definitely get it by the end of January. This should make everyone feel better.

The reason they don't give an exact ETA is in hope you will buy their product over a competitors that currently is up and running on the market.
