Hey, I just got an EZ Flash IV and it's great and all, but I'm not liking this Darth Vader theme (obviously! XD)
Anyways, Most of the Skins that I wanted to download had dead links, So I wanted to make a Skin of my own, But unfortunately most of the tools also had dead links...
Can anybody on here help me with my Skin problem?
Whether that be by explaining things or helping me find the tools I need, I'd appreciate any help (:

You might find better results at the EZ Flash forums, assuming anyone is still alive over there. I've never really cared enough to mess with the skins, so I can't really help. Though, I think there was someone recently working on a skin over there.

Sorry, probably should have covered that.

Yeah windows 8 can be a pain to get old visual basic programs to work. If you are going to be doing anything in flash carts though I do suggest having a XP VM sitting around.

Usage usually amounts to having the ezfla_up.bin that you want to have the skins loaded into in the same folder (technically it unpacks it first but that is besides the point), copying skins into the relevant directories and pressing build in the program. It will then spit out a ezfla_up.bin file that has the skins you want in it.
The skins themselves are combinations of bmp (mostly for the GBA side of things) and JPEG (more for the DS side of the loader). There are a few extra quirks (I think one of the sub menus takes it colour from the top left pixel) and there is also an extra skinning tool by way of Kuwanger's fix.py and related stuff.
Most of those should be on http://ezflash.sosuke.com/viewforum.php?f=13

Generally speaking you need to replace like with like -- if the original file is a 256x192 BMP file then you need to put in a 256x192 bmp file of the same bit depth.

Just download a pre-patched Clearlooks 1.72 from the EZ4 forums.

I could do that, but I want to make my own skin!

*sweats* Gosh darn it, that stuff looks a bit confusing,

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150

Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
