Like gamequest said , I'm very intrigued by how people without 4.5 will update the fpga or w/e. I think the most reasonable answer is that they are not going for the sky3ds solution , or they are but they have some kind of mini exploit to update the card

I'm almost 100% sure they took the knowledge of sky3ds card. Why would they be worried about updating past 9.2 if they didnt even released their " exploit " . its clearly that the " exploit " is already aired which is why they dont want you to update any further. They must have checked if its possible to implement sky3ds functions in gateway and after being able to tell that they can do the job, they decided to announce this news. The only problem with my statement is how will they be able to swap games @.@. perhaps 1 game per sd card?

Gateway giving Sky3DS the virtual middle finger. I love it. I hope we get more info on this soon.

Gonna be honest, I could care less if it runs homebrew on the newer firmware since ssspwn is still releasing. Seems like once both of these release, everyone will be set.

Just saying, before Sky3DS (and its clones) was released, Gateway already had plans for the New Nintendo 3DS and that implied to some that they had some sort of support for the latest firmware. :P

This is great. I just updated to 9.2.0-20 on two consoles, I have one 4.5, and now I can buy those new crystal 2DS's

It's defintely a good time to purchase a Gateway for anyone who hasn't already got one, forget SKY3DS or whatever other flashcards there are out there.

My theory is that gateway had a way of running things past 4.5 but they chose to hold on to it. NOW, since there is a NEWER 3DS model, there will be a lot of consumers with the NEW Model only, hence the release of 9.2 compatible firmware. Maybe they predicted that there will be a newer hardware revision of 3DS.

Nah they found this ages ago and were holding onto it for the launch of the N3DS in NA and EU, but sky3ds figured it out and released it, when gateway got one of their cards and verified its that same exploit then they went ahead and announced it to gain more customers. why loose potential sales to sky3ds?

lol its a shame it was released by someone else this early though.

Sky3ds isnt really using any "exploit". Their built-in chip emulates real carts. There is no software launcher involved at all.

Although I do agree with the part that gateway doesnt wanna lose potential sales.

I hope Gateway releases without the 10 games limit though, and you could wipe the games as many times as you want...

Pretty sure that is guaranteed. They even mocked the 10 game limit on their website.
Also did you know: with Gateway 3DS, you can fit over 10 times 10 games on a single 128GB microSD and conveniently select them from a fancy multirom menu!

Hi, pals.
In your opinion, It's wise to buy a Gateway now (previous to the update)?
Could be any problem big enought to make GW team not update de flashcart to 9.0.20 support ?
You think it'll be released this month?
Will the release of the update increase the price on resellers pages?

Thank you very much.

Here's a way I could see this work. Gateway auto-detects if it is booting with the exploit or not. If you booted through the DS Profile exploit you must still be on 4.x firmware and have full access to .cia, homebrew, emuNAND, and ROMs. If the exploit is not used then you must be on 9.2 and will function in the same way it did when it first came out with one game per SD card written with win32diskimger going back to the way it originally worked. That would be why us on 4.x should stay that way, and they can still claim 9.2 support.
