I've been attempting to play image files off of an SD card and USB drive using usb loader gx. I have the current version of this program and have installed dios mios lite and have no problem playing gamecube games off of my SD card. However, I am unable to play Wii images off of my USB drive. I've tried formatting it as ntfs and playing iso's by placing them in a wbfs folder in the root of the usb drive. Usb loader is unable to find the iso's. I've also tried formatting the usb drive as FAT32 and using Wii Back Up Manager to format the iso's into wbfs. Usb loader gx is able to recognize the images but when I try to launch them my wii freezes. I've waited up to 30 min for the game to start but no luck. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get this working or if I need to maybe install a specific WAD to play Wii images. I'd really appreciate any advice. I've tried googling around a bit but can't find any definitive answers.

Any advice on this? I'd really like to play Wii images off of a usb.

deathpie : probably incorrect cIOS. update/reinstall it with the correct version and base.

DragonWK : You can do it manually, but it's harder and you could make mistakes.
http://gametdb.com and look for the gameID, this way the internal gametdb renaming feature will use the correct name.
place the game in /wbfs/Title [GameID]/GameID.wbfs
Or (not recommended!)
use the title you want and a random GameID, but don't use gametdb renaming feature in the loader. It will display the Title you used as folder name.

these base are fine (base56 and base57).
if beta52 doesn't work, you can try beta53 (but it has less EmuNAND compatibility).
You can also try v8 (but if v10 doesn't work, there's less chance that v8 will).

Try another USB device to see if it's an issue with your drive or with your setup.

So I should just install exactly what Acidflare was suggesting or do I need to install any additional cIOS?

Do I need any files on the usb drive outside of the game images? IE: I run the app off of my SD card but want to play games off of a usb? I just want to make sure I have everything set up correctly.

I have a problem with EmuNAND on USB.
When EmuNAND path is sd:/nand/ then games installed to NAND start normally.
But when I change EmuNAND path to usb1:/nand/, dump NAND there, install WAD and try to start a game, I return to Wii menu.
My USB device is 64GB flash drive formatted into FAT32 with 4K sector. Game images, transferred to it with Wii Backup Manager, work fine.
What's wrong?

4k cluster or 4k sector?
I think you need a 512k/sector drive.
You can format the FAT32 with 4k/cluster but it's not a good idea. Prefer 32k/cluster for better compatibility with all homebrew.

Deathpie :
You don't need any file on the USB, except your game's image. (in /wbfs/ folder)
You don't need to install a lot of cIOS, you need only one.
install d2x v8 or v10 in slot 249 with a base 56. That's all.
if it doesn't work, try another HDD.

USB Loader GX r1233 and Nintendont r2.216:

- GX will load Nintendont instead of the game selected.
- Once in Nintendont, we can move through the games list and load any other game just fine.
- Once a game is loaded, the combination R + Z + B + D-Pad Down will take us to the "Press A button" screen (as if we had just turned the Wii on) instead to HBC (works fine if we load the game directly through Nintendont).

Hey Cyan, in the 1233 rev, what does it mean "Native Controller" and "Gamecube Controller" settings?

Also this new version doesn't ask for the controller .ini file, when playing through blutooth :yayu:

Seems to be a compatibility problem between GX and Nintendont, I tested it with an old Nintendont version and it works as it should.

I'm having a problem with USB Loader GX. I'm on the newest version of the loader (v3.0 rev 1233) with IOS 249 (rev 20). I have a LaCie HD with 200 GB of space, formatted as FAT32. Just yesterday I was playing Red Steel 2 and all of my games showed up. I took out the LaCie and put in another drive, this time a 64 GB USB 3.0 SanDisk, which worked perfectly. Today I switched them back and I ran USB Loader GX. Now it will not show me any games. It shows the right amount of space that I have available out of the total on the bottom, but all of the lists are blank. I've checked to see if the HD is corrupt; it's not. I've reinstalled my IOS, reinstalled USB Loader GX, searched tirelessly on the Internet for a solution, but none of them work. Have any ideas?

Just a quick note to Cyan, USBLoader GX is by far the best loader out there. Combined with Nintendont, DIOS MIOS and Devolution , the WiiU has become the ultimate Nintendo history machine. Keep up the good work. It's amazing to think I am playing Ocarina of time on a WiiU, via VWii, via USBLoader GX, via Nintendont. LOL. And with the flicker filter maxing to the sharp, its the best its ever looked.

Tried checking the source but figured it'd be easier to ask here, I'm still not clear on how the deflicker switch works in USB Loader GX, does ON mean no forcing? Or is it forcing on both ON and OFF? Because the only game I have that doesn't use deflicker didn't work with ON but every other game that normally does use deflicker worked without it; with OFF.

If both options are forcing, shouldn't there be a third option, for leaving it up to the game? Or if ON is that option then shouldn't it be called differently? Since it wouldn't work on games that lack deflicker.

Check this:

[_] Has the SD-Card some free space? Probably its full and USBLoaderGX can't save something.
[_] Defragment your LaCie HD.

Oh, a lot of reports!
That's what happen when I don't test it enough and rush the release.

Thanks for the reports, I'll check them and fix in next revision.

I disabled autoboot for version betweek v2.200 and v2.207.
It should autoboot with newer version (I tested with v2.213, that was the latest released nintendont when I released r1233). I'll test with newer version.

I don't know what happens with the button-combo, maybe a bug with nintendont?

Hey Cyan, in the 1233 rev, what does it mean "Native Controller" and "Gamecube Controller" settings?
Also this new version doesn't ask for the controller .ini file, when playing through blutooth :yayu:
Yeah! I disabled auto-check of controller.ini on WiiU, and even added a /controllers/ folder check instead ;)
Gamecube controller : choose how many controllers you want to emulate/connect, thing of it as number of players : 0 to 4. It's the number of connect-able Gamecube controllers. Some games work only with "1", most games should work with "4". (I think if you set to "1", you can have 1 gamecube controller, 1HID, 3 bluetooth)
Native controller (port) : (I think it's named "Native control" in nintendont) it tells nintendont to use the original hardware controller port and official controller function instead of emulating it. It allows use of GBA connectivity, microphones, bongoo, dancing mat, etc., while setting it to OFF has custom Gamecube controller+HID+BTooth code. Obviously work only on Wii with physical controller ports.

Have any ideas?
1. check that you enabled the correct mode (4th icon at the top, it may be disabled automatically if you launched it without hdd connected)
2. force a partition remount : settings > hdd menu > click on 1st option again.
3. I don't know :P test the two things and report again.

Thank you :)
sorry (as always) for being slow to develop it. I still have ideas but not enough time/knowledge/will to work on it lol. I do as I feel like it.
I didn't see any differences with deflicker option, I'm glad it work as intended. (or maybe it's only visible on wiiu?)
