Posted this in the shoutbox but thought I'd post it here as well. Saw on reddit that a online store is selling a mouse pad that you can customize with any image you'd like for .99 cents with free shipping.

Not trying to be a spambot but I wanted to share this deal with people who would be interested. Ordered myself a nice mouse pad. :yay: (Oh and it ends today.)

Mouse pads.. in 2014?

Next you will be telling me you still use ball mice.

I mean, I still use a mouse pad, because I don't want to scratch my desk... but it's more of a mat than a pad... it's a ~28" wide gun cleaning mat, conveniently made of the same material as mouse pads lol. Keep my keyboard on it too.

...people still use mouse pads...

The only people I have seen still use a mouse mat were those still using a ball mouse (I have learned not to ask) or as a kind of soft enforcement of "the rest of this desk has junk all over it, try to leave a bit for the mouse".

I suppose desk scratching is an option, though I usually find the opposite problem where gunk/human slime builds up on the table instead.

Using a mouse (laser or not) without a pad is really annoying for video games, and I hate the sound it makes, and it scratches the desk.

Never had a particular problem with gaming grade mice for rapid, precise and constant movement on a desk (games, cad, image editing). Mind you before the mouse makers started using nice slippy plastics I was known to get some of my own and replace them. Not sure what sounds you are getting either, the clicks from mine are probably louder, my keyboard definitely is (I am not on a mechanical one any more either).

Edit as for gun mat as desk mat I can see using some of the anti static or anti cut stuff, mainly as I do both. Does said mat have any claims in that realm?

That's the thing. I don't use a gaming grade mouse. I use a cheap laser mouse that sucks ass without a pad.

There are some Chinese companies doing good work for not a lot these days (you can even buy them on amazon), you don't have to get any of that Mad Catz nonsense. I would make a monster cable comment but Mad Catz do actually make items of some quality over baseline MS mice, still somewhat overpriced (and with increasingly nonsense drivers) but hey.

The thing that irks me is the title. It's 99 cents or .99 bucks, not .99 cents x(

I should use a mouse pad, but I just can't fit it on my desk.

You must not use a gaming mouse or really any sort of mouse for any sort of PC gaming.

Mouse pads are still very much a thing. I imagine only old people and casuals can get away without one because nothing they do really would require the use of precise/quick mouse movements.

The only time I do not use a gaming grade mouse are those periods between mine dying from overuse and going to the shops/waiting for the post on a new one or parts to fix it. Or I guess when I do CAD, drawing tablet or similar things but they tend to have/are their own input peripherals. Whether I would be competitive at the higher levels of multiplayer remains to be seen but I do need rapid and precise mice/input for my machines.

Tempting, but I doubt this'll be my last chance to get one for such the price, and I've already got a mouse pad that I'm satisfied with for now.
