Hacking Is my R4 Broken/Fake

Hi there

I've been trying for hours to get my new R4i 3DS RTS to work and I'm not sure why it's not.

I got it this morning and have tried unsuccessfully to get the right firmware for it. I went to the official website listed on the card and downloaded it onto the Micro SD card which had been newly formatted. I have also tried the Wood firmware and the YSMenu but nothing had worked.

The card is simply going on but then not doing anything and remaining with a black screen. I'm not sure what is going on but I suspect that the card is either damaged of fake.

Any help would be appreciated.

First, calm down.
I just made an account just to respond to you. This is my first time on gbatemp.
I bought that cart 2 days ago.
I ran into the same issue as you.
It's your MicroSD.
Get a new one, even though it seems like the MicroSD your using is working, it's not.
That would solve it.
Reply if it doesn't work.

Hey AtomicScrap (Cool name btw)

The new SD cards I bought aren't working any better than the two I bought today are. The screen still goes black even when I've formatted them with the formatting tool it just doesn't seem to work with the Wood R4 from the website.

I dunno what else to do in all honesty though I do thank you for the help though. It was really nice of you.

PS. Is the sticker on it supposed to be off like it is. It looks like it's not been put on right. That's what made me think it might be fake.

Can you post pics of your card? What size of micro SD cards are you using?

I'm using a 2gb and a 4gb which were the ones I had been using. I also went out and bought 2 new 4gb ones (that was all they had at the time) which haven't done anything different.

The sticker is poorly placed, like all chinese flashcarts and I can confirm that your flashcart is real.
Are you using a DS Phat, Lite, DSi, DSi XL, or 3DS / XL?
For DSi there is a known problem involving the cartridge placement

Make sure you're using this: extract this into your MicroSD reader (with the MicroSD inside)

I had previously used the V1.64 firmware as I thought it was the most up to date one. However I can't remember trying that one. So I shall do that now.

As for the DS, I originally used my own 3DS (Original with the most up to date firmware) but also used an old DSLite my younger brother had. I didn't think there would be a problem with the 3DS because the card was supposed to be able to play on the new firmware.

I shall give it a try and see if it works.

EDIT: Just tried it on the 2 DS's but I don't think it's working still nothing but the black screen. Thanks for the help AtomicScrap. I'm going to see if there's anything that can be done.

Acekard 2i and TTDS were easy compared to this XD

the r4i gold 3ds is very easy to use, and memory card requirement is not high,
now, you tried several consoles and memory card, and have the same black screen,
i'm sure the card has some problem, you can return the card for exchange or repair

Sorry to Necro Thread but I have tried to return it to the website I got it from but the guy isn't responding and isn't offering a return. Tried to buy another one from another website but it seems to have gone missing in the mail. Just seems I'm not meant to have a card.

If cart is faulty and seller won't replace it, roll back your payment through a Paypal claim, or if you paid with VISA go to the bank and have them cancel it.

I certainly formatted to the FAT 32, I made sure of that other than that I think the card is faulty. I shall try to get the payment reversed tomorrow morning as it was a card payment. I should have done it through paypal I think.

Thank you very much for checking that. Puts my mind at rest. With the card taking bit of time and the first one getting lost I guess I was just waiting for something to go wrong. Thanks for checking.
