it's a .3dz save, it's stated on the site and it's providing the header.
darkness_shadow is probably using .3ds filename, not the other way.

rename .3ds to .3dz, and re-overwrite the save file to be sure you are using the downloaded one.
You might also want to "fix" the chipset ID, the website only provides the UniqueID but depending on the game you need to set the correct chipset value in the header too.
the tool to edit the header should detect and set it correctly.

Thanks for fast answer.
I checked the micro SD and I already renamed the rom to .3dz.
And indeed the tool detected and set the chip ID to FFFAFF90.
So I don't know what's wrong, can someone try ? :P
Maybe the guy provided wrong header...

No don't get excited I have tried this .sav file even though it does state .3dz on the site it wont work no matter what you try, don't know how the guy above got it working it can't possibly be .3dz format. I think possibly to get it to work you need to know 100% for sure what header the original guy on the site used so you can then transfer the id with rom patcher v0.6 to the header but no one knows that so it can't be done.

one more note....with mario kart specifically you need to be using the same rom revision too....i.e 1.0 save vs 1.1 save, so even with matching header and region you also need matching cart revision

Lol dude i just played online for half an hour...
Maybe you should use latest version of rom patcher http://scene.releases.free.fr/index.php?page=tools
The save is for eur btw (maybe you are using us).

No I'm using MK7 UK version but I have tried to get the save to work but it corruptes everytime. I'm using my own personal UK 4GB header on it. How did you get it working? also using v0.6 GRP. What revison MK7 are you using cause I'm just using the basic one from LGC ripper. I would use the same as you as long as I can get MK7 working online completed so if you could explain a bit in detail what you used etc.. would be nice thanks :)

read my post above, there is one more variable when it comes to mario kart :D

oh and to use a shared .3dz save you also need to use the corresponding header info....you cant use your own personal header

I would be happy to set any header and MK7 version up if he would explain what he used to get the .sav file working, it sure beats being just basic though, I just cannot be bothered to play MK7 all the way through again to get what I had before on .3ds.

What causes save region lock? Anyway to patch a save to make it region free?
It would be nice so I could use my JAP SSB save with the US rom (when it will be released) ^^

Just do it step by step when its released in PM, it should work for you OK as long as you have started your save file of on SSB in .3dz format. :)
